My mom has had extreme eczema on her hands for about 15 years now. She has been to several different dermatologists and has tried every OTC and Rx medication there is. Nothing works. She's tried all kinds of oils and glycerin, she wears cotton gloves at night and she stays away from cleaners. I even have her using natural oatmeal soap. I told her to ask her doctor to cut a piece of her skin for testing (I thought she might have a fungus or something), but the doctor refused. I feel awful for her because the bleeding cuts cause her extreme pain and she cries on a daily basis. If anyone knows of anything else to try, please let me know. I would love to be able to help her. Here are some photos where you can clearly see the cuts and dry skin. My mom doesn't even have fingerprints anymore. In addition, I was having a hard time following the archives on eczema... everything I tried to click on wouldn't advance to the next page.

Hi, Melanie.
This is a typical "housewive's dermatitis" and is not hard to know how to cure but it IS a specific bother to the victim to DO it. The protocol is so specific and detailed that I have posted it in it's own archives labled Housewive's Dermatitis.
Once you have devoured the protocol, if you have more questions write again.
Shame on her docs for not having taken the time to resolve this for her!
Walt

I can't find a thing in the archives! The only thing there is a post to a girl named Carla in which you stated, "Somewhere, in the archives, I have posted the exact treatment for this and how to prevent recurrence. It is long and involved and I hope you can find it to prevent me having to retype it all over again." Anyway, I cannot find it... can you please help me?

First, does she wear gloves to do housework? It could be an allergy to latex or rubber. If she doesn't use gloves, maybe she could give it a try to see if the dermatitis is contact oriented. Next I would ask her if touching anything makes her hands irritated, burn or itch. This type of dermatitis (based on location) could be a reaction to a cleaner, soap (including toothpast/dental preparations), jewelry or even a raw food that she is touching during preparation. If you are confortable that there are no topical triggers, the next thing I would try is a food diary. Have her write down everything she eats/drinks/OTC medications/prescriptions and see how the symptoms change (if at all) on a daily basis (note change in condition on the page each night and note the appearance in the AM as well). Then, rotate the diet. This might turn up something fairly quickly. Good luck!
