I have done pelvic floor therapy for the past 3 months with some results, I also meditate and go to counseling to deal with interstitial cystitis.
Would anyone like to share their experience with the physiodata u control trainer. And relaxation techiques.
I would rather do my own therapy at home since I have to drive one hour each way to go to therapy.
I read a book called "A headache in the pelvis" but I would have to attend a seminar in New York or California to get their treatment and a set of one year of relaxation tapes.
The cost is also very high.
Please advise and may be share your experience and success.
Thank you.
Patricia

Hi Patricia~
I just wanted to tell you that I had suffered for only 6 months from IC and that seemed like a lifetime! It is SO painful, and life distrupting! I thankfully came across walt's website, ordered his book, read all the IC archives on this site, bought the books Dr Stoll recommends here also for learning SR..Changed my diet completly, I have done aerobics 5Xs per week for about 8 yrs now and continue that, along with SR 2xs daily and I feel wonderful! Read up as much as you can in the archives-they will help you so very much! As hard as it may seem, you have to cut out sugar completly as it inflames the bladder. I wish you the best of luck! If you have any ?? for me, I will try to help as much as I can-just post here. Oh, also I take the perfect food supplement, along with calcium citrate w/magnesium and Ester C. Good luck, and hang in there!

I am reading the same book right now. I have vulvodynia which often goes with IC. I have the U control sensor. I used it like I was supposed to for 3 months but didn't improve any. Plus it hurt like hell to insert that thing twice a day when your vulva is inflammed and on fire. I wasn't doing SR or any kind of mental relaxation at the same time. That may have made a difference if I was just tensing them up over and over again. I find the book interesting and it makes alot of sense. Wish I lived near Cali but I am in the midwest. Anyway..if you have anymore questions feel free to ask.

Amanda, I would like to find out what is SR and how to do it
I know that when I can get my pelvis to relax I feel fine and no urgency, it only happens after pelvic floor therapy and yoga. I would like to use something at home to retrain these muscles and to finally get back to a more normal life.
I stopped eating sugars 8 months ago, I eat only veggies and limited amounts of protein and almost no fruit.
I have tried and tried self meditation to relax my pelvis but I don't seem to get anywhere. Can you share with me your success and guidance.
Would you be able to email me directly?
I am only 43 years old and I would like to be able to regain some sanity.
Thank you.
Patricia.

Have any of you ever undergone a KCL Challenge in the diagnosis of your pelvic pain?

Hi Patricia,
In the end of the book, "A Headache in the Pelvis", there is a number you can call to reach Dr. Wise....one of the authors. I've actually called him on three or four occasions and he is on of the nicest and most compassionate men you will ever talk to. You might try calling him to see if he knows of anyone in your area who has been trained under their protocol and who has access to get you the tapes. Or maybe he can work something out with you. I have these tapes and they are great!

No I have not had a KCL challenge. I don't even know what it is.
I had a cystoscopy with hydrodistention and was told that I had pelvic floor disfunction and vulvodanya.
I know that when I can relax my pelvic floor I do just fine but stress kills me.
Thank you for your response.

Jill,
I also have called him and tried to get him to sell me the tapes and also he has some type of device that you can get so that you can do your own trigger point release.
He refused to send me anything unless I went to one of his seminars.
I live in Florida and really cannot afford to go up to NY or CA.
I read his book but cannot apply his method since I cannot obtain the tapes.
I even tried to talk to my pelvic floor therapist to see if she could call and ask and the same answer was that they had to attend the seminar.
Thank you.
