I am quite excited and happy about a couple of things. This is my 16th week of skilled relaxation. I started it hoping to help my lifelong IC condition.
Last night I was puttering around the kitchen getting dinner ready and my sister started talking about blood pressure issues which brought us to heart rate issues. My heartrate has always been quite high, in the 90's. Hard to get it down to the 80's even in a "resting" state. For five years I jogged several days a week and still couldn't get it to lower much.
At any rate, for kicks, I decided to check my rate last night. It was 72!!! And this was up moving around fixing dinner. I just checked it again in case I had goofed and it was the same, 72. This is a huge change in what my body is doing.
The second wonderful piece of news is that last night is the first night I made it through the whole night without getting up to use the bathroom. One of the dogs woke me up once to see if I was still alive, but I didn't need to get up. This has never happened in my whole life!! This came on the heels of several days where I wasn't doing well at all but just kept plugging away.
I've also begun SR in the a.m. before actually getting out of bed. I let myself wake up, prop up some pillows and just relax into my tape for 1/2 hour. I come to work much more peaceful and calm. I've been doing this the last 3 days. I really like it, and was one who didn't think they could ever set the alarm a little early to fit this in during that time of the morning.
Thank you, thank you thank you thank you, Walt, and all others who have offered encouragement. Obviously I will be keeping this up.

Dear Vicki,
Thanks for your testimonial. This is exactly what BB participants need to hear to get them serious about what I have been talking about. Many people still can't believe that something so simple could be what they need since "Why does not MY doctor tell me that if it is so good?" WHY INDEED?
As I have said many times: "Helping others move toward wellness is an aspect of our own." Just sharing your progress puts you in that catagory.
You are to be congratulated for sticking to it. Also, you are just starting to see the long term benefits of what you are doing. I hope you will continue to let us know how you do.
As I have also said many times: people who need the SR sill soon see that the problem that finally got them to do it is not the only thing that improves.
I have had MANY people tell me that they actually thank their IC, chronic thyroid condition, arthritis, hypertension, etc., etc. for happeing to them because it forced them to learn SR. The positive changes in their life would never have been experienced if they had not done the SR and they are worth all the suffering they had before for the benefits they ultimately received.
Namaste` Walt

What encouragement, Vickie! I have been practicing SR about the same amount of time. One of the firsts benefits I noticed -- no longer did I have dry eyes or a dry mouth!!! The next bonus, my longstanding challenge of constipation lessened considerably. I want to also thank Dr. Stoll!!! I got into SR at his recommendation when I had a coaching session over the phone for my fibromyalgia.
