Breast Implants

Posted by Adriana on March 30, 2001 at 13:57:01:

Dear Dr. Stoll,

First off, I want to thank you for all of your help. I have been looking at this website for almost a year and have read your book. I suffered with Interstitial Cystitis for years and finally discovered the root cause of it (bracing) from your article on this site. Just knowing what the cause was improved it 90%. I still have a long way to go, however, to fully get better with the three-legged stool.

My question is about getting breast implants. Through my personal research, the stress on the body that the implants would cause just seems overwhelming. About a month ago, a lady asked you if implants were as horrible as some say they are. Your answer was that you didn't think they were as bad. I'm curious, because I would think the stress of the operation plus having the implants inside your body would be as bad or worse, as say, consuming sugar/nutra-sweet and leading a stressful life. Are you saying that if someone has a healthy lifestyle, the implants would not bother them? Are the implants the same, as say, a pacemaker, in regards to having a foreign object in your body?

Thanks for any help you can give me,
Adriana

Thanks, Adriana.

Your IC testimonial may help others to understand that conventional medicine doesn't have a clue about this condition.

In MY opinion, at least saline breast implants are innocuous. The difference is that ALL procedures should be done with the risk/benefit in mind. Pacemakers are placed for life threatening conditions whereas most breast implants are cosmetic.

Hope this helps.

Walt

I have had breast implants since 1980 (saline), although I would not recommend anyone to do this, as it is a personal decision to make. I have had no problems, after having two children, I just wanted what I had originally back so I chose to have it done. They are natural and the surgery was not painful. All normal sensation is the same and if you plan to breast feed after childbirth, it should not be a problem.

With all that has come out about implants, I had many calls from my family and friends that knew I had it done and were concerned for my health. Many procedures are done (joint replacements etc) without the body rejecting it. I did not feel threatened because of the saline implants used. I was fortunate however, that at that time my Doctor chose and insisted on those type of implants and I am glad He did. I am not sure I would do it today, but really do a lot of thinking long and hard before making that decision, it is your body, I can only speak for myself and do not want to influence you only help.
