Dr Stoll for urrethritis in female ..or interstitil cystitis

My dear Doctor Stoll,

My friend told me about your website and told me she learnt quite alot on her condition(interstitial cystitis).
I have urrethritis that comes and go ,with no bacteria found .Every day symPtoms change but it is usually some pressure and burning .(better at night with no frequency)...why do i usually feel better at night /evening???is it because i could be less anxious at home ???than at work ???.could it be i.c??I have been doing skilled relaxaton for 2-3 months ,but being of a "worried nature" i have still ups and downs.Does it mean it is not working ?.For no reason ,out of the blue ,my urrehtra will burn ,then change to pressure .I also tend to have yeast infections and treatments given help ,but they come back .
In your post on interstitial cystitis ,you are very positive that we cn resolve that with skilled relaxation .I want to believe you and would appreciate any information you can add on what else to do as far as relaxing .i know you say it takes 6-12 months for the average person ,so why do i feel better and 2 days later the burning comes back for example???Of course i always feel stressed, feeling that i will have this all my life (5 years on and off already). It seems that a few women/men have that and i am really trying to get better .Urologists gave me antibiotics years ago but after a while ,no more bacterias were found in my bladder so i stopped taking them after 6 months .Now ,no more bacteria is ever found ,but i tend to relapse when i worry alot about my future ...mostly it is urethral symptoms that i get ....pressure ,swollen and burnong on and off every day.
Can therapy help too since my childhood problems could have affected me in my adulthood .
Thank you for your help and comment .I am doing the relaxation but i have a hard time relaxing and letting go while doing it .
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR KIND ANSWER,

MANOUSKA

Hi, Manouska.

First, what have you done to certify that your SR is actually working?

DR STOLL,

I went to a biofeedback therapist and she put a thing inside my vagina and show me on the screen how tense my muscles are there .then , she tell me to relax and little by little my muscle de-contracts.
She is deling with alot of women who have that condition ...i c or their muscle being so tense there ,si i trust her .
I listen to a brainsynch tape for relaxation ,or concentrate on my breathing .As many of the people on the bulletin board ,i happen to also have a "monkey mind".
I hope i am doing it correctly because i do not want to waste all the time i spend on it .
Also for the yeast infection ,i read that vinegar douching and acidophilus is helpful .any comment .
I have used the monistat but they come back .I need to cut down on sugar intake because when tense because i worry about my health ,i want some sweets.
thank you Dr Stoll for your answer .
haveyou had great success with your own patients and interstitial cystitis when they did the S.R???
IT IS NICE TO HEAR SUCCESS STORIES.

Congratulations, Manouska.

You are finally going in the right direction to resolve this problem. MY experience is that it takes total body discharge of the muscle tension to get the best results. One CAN just focus on the perineal muscles, as your biofeedback person is doing, BUT that is most expensive way and, in the end, is not as effective. Can you imagine what will happen when your perineal muscles are relaxed and all of the rest of your muscles are still tense?

Let us know how you do.

Hi, Manouska.

All who actually DO it are either vastly improved or totally clear within 6-12 months.
