Dear Doc,
I posted below...Saturday I think, "healed urinary urgency but still discharge."
I have relaxed my irritable urethral syndrome completely, after almost two years...and I learned so much.
My only lingering complaint is a heavy discharge (comes two or three times a day, often during a bowel movement), which is sometimes itchy and causes redness on the vulva. Sometimes it is non-irritating, but it's still awfully heavy.
I went to get a pelvic and they say You Have A Heavy Discharge. (Um, thanks?)
What do you suggest?
Love,
Elizabeth
(I'm 29, and otherwise very healthy!)

Hi, Elizabeth - I imagine Dr. Stoll did miss your post. He'll probably answer tomorrow. I hesitate to even mention this because it should be so obvious to a gynecologist, but did they observe a smear under a microscope? My daughter once had a heavy discharge and went to a doctor who sent a smear away to a laboratory. It came back as nothing wrong, and they prescribed warm baths. Then, when it didn't get better, she went to another doctor who examined it in the office and said it was trichamonas (sp?). He said that when they send the smear away, the organisms die before they can tell what they are. Does the discharge have an odor or itch?
She was in agony from the itching and the whole thing. But, it cleared up right away with treatment. Just thought you'd like to know this. Raisa

Well, I've had this discharge (no odor, it's opaque-clear and milky) since my ordeal of urinary urgency started 2 years ago! It's been cultured out about six times, and they say "no yeast," "no bacteria." Every so often it is itchy, but mostly it just comes out...
I figured it was part of the tension/bracing syndrome, and that my bodily fluids were being "held" then "released" in a tense way as a result. So now that the urgency is gone, I figured the discharge would stop too...
It has been decreasing in the past week, which is I believe a good sign.
Thank you for posting your daughter's story.
E.

Thanks, Elizabeth!
Tell me more about how you discharged the levator ani bracing and what you are doing about it right now. The most common cause of what you have left is pelvic congestion syndrome and levator ani bracing is one of the causes of that. Not having orgasmic release, on a regular basis (if there is sexual interest), is another very common cause of PCS.

Hi Doc Stoll,
Thanks for responding.
I don't know the exact way I healed, but here are the nuts and bolts of it, in both the physical and emotional realms:
Physical:
1. Maintain bowel regularity as much as possible. Drink a full glass of warm water, with lemon works best, upon arising, before any other food.
2. Maintain a whole foods diet.
3. Learned meditation, and practice it several times a week, for 30-60 minutes.
4. Yoga in the morning, every morning, whenever possible. Pelvic postures, particularly where legs and hips are elevated, or straight up against the wall (shoulder stands). *This REALLY helped me, by increasing blood flow to the pelvic and sexual organs. This included tensing and then relaxing the vaginal muscles, called the "root lock," a technique I learned from a yogini in NYC.
Emotional
1. Made the personal decision to apply to graduate school (got accepted!) and move to New York, in the midst of a lot of pain. Proving to myself that the pain did not *have* to determine my life. This decision, more than I can ever describe, made the condition, permanently, "smaller" and manageable. THe separation between my physical body and what it does, and my spiritual body who is not inextricably tied to physical "health."
2. Got very focused with boyfriend and more upfront about what troubled me. I had read in metaphysical healing books like Louise Hay's that urinary problems are frequently a manifestation (in the metaphysical realm, not excluding physical contributors) of being "pissed" off. Of emotional "urgency." As I confronted these issues, there was less urgency. Imagine that...
This took about two years. I don't regret any of it, even the condition itself, because it taught me so much.
What is left:
A vaginal discharge and some resulting redness/rawness on the vaginal skin. But it is much improved from the old days.
I wonder if it is from pelvic congestion...as you say.
I will work on the more-orgasms thing. Not a problem

Thanks, Elizabeth.
My job is only to open the door. Congratulations for having the courage to walk through. The benefits are worth the effort, wouldn't you say?
Namaste`
