Thanks for the post about allergy and withdrawal. I'm also dealing with constipation, with pain just prior to and during a bowel movement, and also some pain and discomfort after voiding my bladder during the night or first thing in the morning. This has been going on for two weeks. My stomach sticks out like I'm pregnant. The bowel movement pain reminds me of the experience I had as an 8 year old when I ate a bowl full of carrots, had severe cramping the next day and ended up staying over night in the hospital for observation but no treatment that I remember. The constipation is a mystery since I'm still on the perfect whole foods diet minus the cheating a few weeks ago. I'm slowly upping my ester c, up to 4 grams a day now. Could that be contributing? Also I'm sluggish and tired and have been falling asleep again during SR. Discouraging stuff. Thanks again for all your help.

Just because you are eating perfect whole foods, doesn't mean your body can tolerate them yet. Sounds like you still might have some food intolerances or senstivities. When I was going thru detox, I followed the doctor's diet recommendation to the letter but I was still having a problem with bloating and constipation. Turns out I was intolerant of veggies in the cabbage family which were what he was mostly telling me to eat! Once I eliminated the cabbage family veggies, my bloating and constipation got much better. After some healing to my gut, I can eat them now occaisonally but not often.

Funny you shold mention that :) I was just thinking this morning that the worst of the problem happened after eating some soup with a lot of cabbage in it. I will DEFINiTELY be avoiding it. I'm feeling much better today. Thanks Barbara! I wonder what else we will have in common!

Hi, dfs.
Thank Barbara for me for her timely suggestion.
You can also learn what additional mechanisms may be involved with the colon problem by looking at the helpful references from Terry A today. I responded today so the string will be available today. He actually posted it 48 hours ago.
Your pain after urinating, first thing in the morning, is due to residual spasm of the bladder sphincter. It happens most then because overnight filling of the bladder tends to be more than at any other time. You could probably prove this to yourself by setting the alarm for midnignt and 3 AM one night (emptying your bladder each time) and see how the pain happened THAT morning.
This, too, shall pass.
Namaste`
