Do I need a Tetanus shot if I started antibiotics (Amoxicillin and Clavunate Potassium) and cleaned the wounds from a dog bite 3 hours after the incident occurred? I recieved six stitches for a small wound and two for another puncture. I am a very healthy 38 year old and have not recieved a tetanus shot for 11 yrs.

Yep. As I understand it, if you haven't had a tetanus shot in the last 7yrs, you need a booster.

Hi, Angie.
Listen to Cheezi.
Considering the inconsequential cost of a tetanus booster and the very consequential possibilities of not keeping up your protection, if it were me, I would get it.

Perhaps you should look at this link first before you do so.

Check out http://www.whale.to/vaccines/tetanus.html first. I liked one quote from its Quotes section (on the top of the page): "How can the Tetanus vaccine induce immunity, when contracting the disease naturally does not give immunity?". Or another one: "...The official statistics of the various countries show us that the vaccine does not protect us. The Robert Koch Institute in Germany admits that 2/3 people who contract tetanus have been fully vaccinated. The rate in Switzerland was 50% fully vaccinated and still contracted the disease."
Perhaps, Walt could comment on that one? Or our resident supplement seller Cheezi?
Oh, I just love to question the "experts" and see their lame excuses. LOL

Thanks, R.
While I agree that vaccination effectiveness has been vastly oversold, like all of allopathy, it IS more effective than no vaccination at all.
Perhaps the reason that people who actually GET tetanus do now show immunity later is because the vast majority die? The only reason to persist in tetanus vaccination, in my opinion, is for the ones who are saved by having at least some artificial immunity.
Do you know the actual world wide atatistics of the total number of people who died of tetanus/population 100 years ago and now?

No, I don't.

Has this vaccine been proven to be effective or just assumed to be so? Have you seen the proof?

Perhaps my medical school flat out lied to us but they reported a drastic reduction in deaths from tetanus after near universal immunization to tetanus. I do not recall the numbers which is why I asked.
