Lasst summer as I researched the immunization sites I came across a notice that either the senate or congress had passed legislation effective August 22, 2002 that allowed parents to refuse immunization of thier children for personal belief and they would not be required to get doctors release or religious exemptions I think the bill for this legislation was either 931 or 731 please help me find this again

sincerely
wendy

My grandson started kindergarden this year so they require immunizations. Sean has never had any immunizations to date. My daughter decided to get him 2 shots and took him to the Doctor. She was treated like she was a child abuser when they found out Sean had never been given any immunizations. The young Doctor and nurses could not fathem why she had made these choices. It was quite a battle for her.

IS this effective for every state, or just the state abbreviated by the Bill number?

Thanks, Labrat!

I think that only the states detailed for each provision apply. Still, it is progress.

Namaste`

Check this site also. www.ncsl.org/programs/health/immexp.htm

This link shows the states and what reasons you can use to refuse vaccines.
I live in one of the 18 states that you can say no because of personal beliefs. I infact called the school my daughter will be attending next year to see if I needed to submit a form. They told me that they had the refusal to vaccinate forms there.

Wendy,

here are some good links for you

http://www.mercola.com/article/vaccines/legally_avoid_shots.htm
http://www.909shot.com/Issues/state%20exemptions.htm

I just did some research into the matter myself ...

From what I gather each state is different on the exemptions they allow. Some states offer Philosophical Exemptions some offer religious or medical or either or.

Check the last link I posted for more info.

Also dont be surprised like some of the other posters here suggested that people ie nurses or 'doctors' treat you differently because you have this anti-vaccination view.

One thing; I would think it would be hard to find a MD or DO to sign off on not getting immunizations done; unless you know one personally. So unless your state allows for the Philosophical Exemption you may want to stick with the religious one.

Sean
