Mangy Miracle

Posted by Jim H. [1560.1644] on December 25, 2004 at 06:28:20:

We anticipate the rebirth of spirit,
So hidden away in these deep solstice nights,
As a star bright spark of brilliant promise,
Unsuspected, and newly swaddled
Among the straw and dung,
In the commonplace stable
Of our own humble and unassuming ways.

The stellar light that guides the wise
Is not the destination,
But rather a beacon,
Leading us to this realization:
The divine is born of the ordinary,
And if we could bow low enough,
And open the eyes of the heart,
All our foolish searching and waiting
Would joyfully surrender at the manger.

Wishing everyone a Peace that surpasses all understanding.

Thank you, Jim, for the wondergul poem. I particularly love these lines: "The divine is born of the ordinary," "And open the eyes of the heart,"...They deserve the nobel prize, I believe.

Hope your problems--the patriarch in family, and matriarch at work--are (or will be) resolved in due time.

Happy holidays to you and yours, and to everyone.

So, Bing, you think I have managed to write the great American phrase!? Even
two!?

I will take your compliment at a Christmas present. Thank you.

Thanks YY, I dusted off the words I have posted at this season the last few
years, only this time I chopped them up so it looks like poetry. Weird how
that works.

Maybe next year I'll do something with Rudolph in it.

BTW, Bing,

I am writing a song entitled "I'll Be Your Love Charity, Baby."

One of the lines is, "Wrap your alms around me." Now for that one I want a
Nobel!

Ha!!

Dear Jim, so you entice me with one great line from the song without letting me see the whole? Not cool...:)

BTW, for that "wrap your alms around me" line, you deserve 2 Nobel prizes.

OK, Bing, I confess, there are no other lines.

And no Nobels, unless they have one for fun punning.

Nonsense, D, you have talent for appreciation and praise...and for
lamentation. You might want to focus on the first two. :)

Hey Jim,

Does this mean you think I'm lame?

Had to do it, just had to.

No really I didn't realize I was expressing myself this way. I do say I'm sorry a lot but didn't think it was a big part of what I try to convey.

Guess I know who's an early bird like me, now.

Hey Jim,

Just couldn't get this reply off my mind. I hope I'm wrong but it appears to have a condescending tone to it.

I may annoy with my compliments to people but I never do so without sincerity. Annoy with sincerity, that's my motto.

It probably comes from making sure my kids had a healthy self-esteem, which I didn't growing up.

I do try to focus on peoples good qualities cause focusing on the bad is not only hurting them but myself as well.

There is far TOO many things to be cynical about in this world and believe me I have many days when I'm nothing but, but I try to keep it to myself 'cause if there is anything I've learned in this life it's that my opinion can change with getting to know a person more.

I know being humble isn't cool but being cool has not been a priority of mine since I was a teenager. I find people don't really know their good qualities as they should and yes I try to point it out to them ,only if it's genuine, and maybe I can make them feel as special as they are if only for an instant.

Believe it or not but I actually hold back praise on this board.

Take care,

D

Maybe I'm too stubborn to let it hurt my feelings. It isn't the first time I've been talked down to and won't be the last, I just felt a need to answer this time for some reason.

I'm not apologizing for myself, sir. Maybe I should and may feel so at a later date, but not at this moment.

D[k],

Now it's my turn. You are a wonderful person. You are smart, wise, funny, passionate, lively, caring, hard working, talented, and you are smart enough to know what's good in life, what's not, and to appreciate the difference. And I appreciate you!

Love,
gabs

Oh Gabs,

How very sweet of you, and I needed that!!!!!!

But I really should have left it alone like I usually do. Don't know why I didn't.

Thanks, you are certainly generous in your words and I couldn't hold a candle to you and on top of it you're not a snob.

Your friend,

D

No problem D, I know you did, but it was also sincere on my part. Sometimes it's quite easy to get hurt here, and a few kind words can make a lot of difference.

You can hold a candle to me, that's for sure!

So try to forget this episode, it's only hurting you, and in my book, that's not a good thing!

your friend gabs
