Persimmon Sky Warning: not for concrete thinkers.

Posted by Jim H. [4759.2315] on November 20, 2005 at 07:33:04:

A portal in the cusp of polar things we define by name connects our
hearts and makes us kin; a passageway right through the middle of
good and bad, right and wrong, dumb and smart, even night and day,
lays mostly undisturbed amidst our preoccupied fumblings. An
endless list of judgments separates us from this opening to the
transcendent viewpoint. As long as we side with one of these
warring opposites we struggle with the proverbial camel and eye of
the needle, as we grope about blindly in the realm of either heart or
mind, never suspecting the Ali Baba cave door whose “open sesame”
is simply the surrender of our cherished “either/or” perception,
viewpoints that we follow even into war. How distasteful this is for
us when we view “surrender” as existing somewhere along the
spectrum of success and failure. In fact, it is a gift of grace, so often
hastened by hard times and fruitless struggle that in hindsight is our
salvation.

I see this never more clearly than in the moments before down, the
portal between night and day, a beautiful, metaphorical
“battleground” of our perception of and identification with the
opposites.

Persimmon Sky.

I would stop the sun exactly below the horizon,
And keep the glow of rising day
At bay while tinge of cold pastels
Of orange and gold and yellow pale
Warm the spirits dark and stark,
Where promise meets the grasping past
In hint of splendor yet untold
As slowly blossomed fates unfold.

Petal fallen seasons drooping,
Rising solar forces troop
To orbit driven of drum and flute.
Goose-step light-show army conquers
Flesh, with daily, daily, daily scheduled
Beauteous ammo, sunrise rockets.
Past retreats with empty pockets.

Battlefield of common wonder,
Souls released in healing thunder.
Lightening morning insight flashes
Softens warring prisoner thoughts.

Sunrise rainbow, sign of peace
Slowly, dawning deep surrender
Tired soul of tender yields,
Going home to tend the fields.

Jim H., thank you. I am anything but a concrete thinker :) and your words are filled with imagination and clarity. A perfect beginning to a cold and bright November Sunday.

Best wishes,

Hi Jim:

Moon surrenders to Sun and vice versa. Two opposite, yet complementary halves repeatedly parting then coming together to form a perfect whole and complete the cycle. The merging of the Yin and Yang of day, so beautifully expressed once again. Thank you, Jim:-)

We Are Artists All

Thanks for the comments.

We all do more here than we suspect. Our colorless keyboard pallet channels the shades and pigments of our imagination. Our lettered keys play chords of silent symphony, a soundless concert of words, in decibels of soul. Our chisel fingers shape print sculptures of inner courtyards. Like it or not, we are artists all.

So we hang our "paintings", play our "tunes", and display our "statues" here and elsewhere in the great e-gallery for all to see. Our unintended, revealing "art" so often betrays our formal stated intentions. People see what they see.

What we have here on the board is a town hall nutty-putty finger painting, spray-confetti, kazoo rhythm band, a graffiti face-painting sidewalk art theater of the absurd, an outdoor café food fight, a flea market
hootenanny performance art pillow fight, a dysfunctional family reality show, a pie in the face AA meeting, and a charade line-dance, follow the leader, snipe hunt...and a heart warming, soul healing sanctuary, and an oasis of self-help sharing and hope.

Here we are at the cusp of opposites again! It's not either/or. Transcend.

...because I'll take this moment to acknowledge you for the help you have given me in my health quest. Your selfless participation and sevice on this board are stellar..well, possibly not counting your corny humor, which brings me to my next point:

Showoff? Showoff?! Well, of course, shamelessly so! Takes one to know one, eh old man?

And since I said each and every post is an art form to the perceptive reader, what does your terse, if not artful reply reflect?

Your genre is comedy. And your artistic skill? Stick figure level, definitely. Ha!

But your kind, expansive soul comes shining through in all your posts, and for that, as well as your help, I am thankful.

Jim

Jim,

I am sooo glad your doing better. It does this old broken down salesman good when I can truly help someone. Your kind words make up for the few who think I have two heads and want to cut them both off.

Keep us posted on your progress.

Silver Fox!
