...from a distant, bluish purplish butte
From deep within thoughts
Where seeing becomes knowing
Where ideas are apples
And no wind is blowing
From a silent Paradise
On a path beyond sleep
Where feet cannot follow
A trail so steep
From where rhyme and reason
Rise like bubbles
That the world interprets as
Pleasures or troubles
From the kinship Home
Of the word “namaste”
A palms together greeting…
Have a nice day : )

Oh Jim, you did it again!
"...from a distant, bluish purplish butte?" LOL! That's the theme color we have been discussing, sans the "butte" part.
BTW, I feel soooooo embrassed for not having replied your email from eons ago...
the arboreal being :)

What did I do, inscrutable one? (smiling and remembering you with
fondness)
Where I live, bluish purplish is the color of mountains at the
threshold of day, the beautiful limits of the visible between night and
day...you know, "purple mountains' majesty".
The overriding condition of our existence is the origin and identity
we share with all that seems separate from us, the common Self that
animates and defies the petty intellect we tend to worship. For the
experience of It, you must check your thinking at the door, like taking
off your shoes to enter a temple, leaving behind the training wheels
of dogma and logic (which, in turn, are enhanced and guided by the
experience of It).
Acknowledgments between us, of the connectedness we share with
others ("namaste" moments), are blessings in a beautiful world that
seems distressful much of the time. So my light-hearted poem was
just pointing to this.

More of those would be nice.

I miss the old Jim.
The rocket man.The healer.The data miner.The +++
Do you still mine the vastness of the intenet?
Maybe you could occasionally share some internet sites that cross your screen and post them for us to visit.
There once was a man named Jim,
who ate cheese wiz and was not thin.
He changed his ways and got on that 3 legged stool,
and now he writes poetry that makes the regulars drool.
Web sites - post the interesting ones.
All the best.

Thanks, Jan.
I have a massage story for you. You may remember that I have been
dealing with issues of hip and lower back pain, going back for about
a year. I thought sure I was a candidate for hip replacement down the
road. Since that seemed the worst outcome, and unavoidable if it had
gone so far, I saw no point in seeking conventional treatment.
Based on my description, you suggested perhaps the lower back was
the culprit in the hip pain, and I think it was...sort of.
In my self-healing efforts, I discovered that the pain was affected but
not cured by diet. It was improved by regular swimming too, but not
resolved. Massage helped, but the pain persisted.
A few months ago, I had an extensive preventive medicine evaluation
involving many modalities of both the conventional and alternative
types, including massage. In the interview, I told the gal of the
trouble I was having. She went right to the spot and found a couple
of very painful areas in the lower back and in the glute. She said I
would not realize relief for a day or two, and she was right. Within
two days I had significant improvement. She said I could deal with it
myself with a tennis ball...huh? "Oh, just lay down on one on the floor
and massage yourself." Yeah, right, I thought.
I had been to three massage therapists before her, and here's the
weird thing; none of them touched me in the spots I said were
bothering me! They explained it was a full body thing and I needed
to relax the whole body. I bought it. The massages were indeed
relaxing, but did nothing for the pain once I got up and moved about.
OK, so I got the tennis ball, and she was right. Lower back and hip
are just made for this kind of procedure. I located and isolated a
particular muscle going from the spine to the top of the pelvis that
caused me acute pain when I pressed it into the ball. I worked it
around and followed it to it connected to the pelvis and held pressure
on it. Did the same with my butt. Within a few days, the pain I'd been
struggling with for nearly a year was gone. What a revelation! I
never went near my spine or hips where I felt the pain. I even had
sensations down my legs and in my feet, which I assumed had to be
disk or nerve damage...gone now.
Another lesson for me is to be more direct with a massage therapist.
I should have insisted work be done on the lower back and hips. I
was passive, and it cost me a year of agony and depression! I do
fault the therapists too. I've wondered why they took the approach
they did.
Whaddya think?
Jim

You ain't the first to call me "inscrutable," Jim, heh. But I think you must also have been called such as well, right? So how many of your inscrutable poems/prose have I missed here, during my several long absences? Argh!
Sounds like you and Sharon are enjoying your retirement. I'm envious of your life of no responsibilities--it's like a summer vacation that never ends, isn't it :)

What are you doing these days besides writing?
Any new neat web sites.
Have you visited youtube.com?
Of all the characters who have visited Walt's site,
I would hazzard a guess that you are in the top 5 in terms of input, response to that input, and personality. Those were the good old days.
Again, I miss the old Jim - a data miner looking to connect. You must have at least one web site to share.
If i were to share with you, I would say youtube.
Oscar

Hi Jim,
Yeah, massage therapists come in all types, just like doctors, chiropractors, etc. Some good, some bad. Some have more training and experience in remedial massage, others just focus on relaxation massage.
I'm glad you finally found a solution to your pain. It pays to keep trying. It pays to try other practitioners of a modality that you think might help but isn't.
Sounds like you had a type of sciatica that is caused mostly by the piriformis muscle pinching the sciatic nerve. It's located in the middle of the buttock.
I am sorry to hear about 3 therapists leading you down the wrong path.
Best wishes,
Jan

You aren’t confusing me with RH Jim are you, Oscar? Yeah, those
were the good old days, but I must say I don’t recognize your name.
Yep, many characters since I stumbled in here in 1996.
I still lurk and post once in awhile, but I’m busier than I ever thought
in retirement. I don’t browse around much, never did. Friends email
YouTube clips to me from time to time, usually funny.
The only sites I have to share are:
My wife and I started a business:

I started a family web site that needs attention and updating:

That's not me, Oscar. RH Jim disappeared without a trace, unless he
went into hiding with an alias as some do.
A few of his many great contributions, like the glossary, are still here.
