addiction problem

Posted by Jim H. [4489.5140] on November 07, 2008 at 10:21:39:

Every time I try to turn off the news or stop reading the Internet, I
start getting the shakes and sweats. OMG, withdrawal. Do I taper
off, go cold turkey, or take some kind of medication, like Blogabuse?

I need some informationless talk shows or, hey, maybe if I could
control myself I could handle a little "near news". No, it's hopeless,
studies show that even cartoons lead to heavier programming.

I need a ten-step program, Campaignophiles Anonymous! I need
headline rehab.

Hi, my name is Jim, and I'm a newsoholic.

If you can't laugh at the link below, you are beyond hope.

I think a media fast is fantastic. Camping is great for this. Other than that, just turn it off. You will find yourself noticing for the first day or two how engrained it is in your life. Then you will notice how much time you have.

I need the freakin' puter to scare up lunch money, or I think I would unplug the damn frankenstein monster.

Good luck.

ROFLMAO! Thanks for that, Sounder. The Onion is a favorite.

But...I must know...what school Sasha and Malia go to, what will they
name the dog, and will she give the clothes back? (wicked grinning)

Hi Sounder,

That video was hysterically funny and definitely had some truth to it! Now what do we do!

Jim, I think it is a matter of finding some kind of positive substitution for the news. Take up a new hobby or find something else you can pick up. If you were a woman, I'd suggest crocheting or something. What kind of guy thing can you do? It's football-watching season, right?

Best wishes,
Jan

with the state of the economy and the world, and our money and troops going down rat holes, I Want to know what is going on, and Hope there is Hope of a fast reversal of the mess. Knowing that we are heading for a depression, and being pulled into the black hole, may help me do something to avoid being sucked in, and not wake up and it be too late.

Knowing details of a situation can make you Not believe what we are being Told are the facts, which Don't make sense, and not be affraid of what we are being Told to be scared about. Understanding what is probably the truth. Don't need SR to relieve that stress being heaped on us.

Did you know her dress is a Narisco Rodriguez? (you do mean the one
with the blazing red, right?) High fashion, Sounder, and a Latin
American statement as well.

Sarah will be able to buy lots of parkas off her notoriety.

they told her to buy 3 parkas. She bought them plus 182 pair of high heeled Gucci mukluks, one pair for every day of the winter. She wanted to make a fashion statement.

Hi Jim,

You could start by replaying lost of Sarah Palin speeches..
She is nice to look at, reminds you of your Mom,
says a lot of things that you can relate to...
and most of all, when you laugh, every Liberal in the room will think you are one of them.
That will make you popular..

If they ask you what is so funny, just say it is a "Saturday Night Live" rerun.
They will never know the difference.
