technology a savior?

Posted by Jim H. [7104.7784] on June 20, 2009 at 18:48:56:

This morning, Walt, I got a voice email from my four-year-old
grandson on my iPhone. Right now I am watching the streets of Iran,
coming to us via twitter, phone video, and Internet site outlets.

I received an invitation, a couple of days ago, from one of my third
grade students from 1994 to join her facebook page. I am connected
with friends from high school in the same way, who I haven't seen
since the last reunion I attended twenty years ago.

BLOGS carry news the regular outlets won't, or at least many hours
before they present it. Dictators, strongmen, and even just your run
of the mill politicians are finding it impossible to get away with their
deceptions. Witnesses are telling their stories for us all to see and
hear.

The Internet is bringing about a worldwide consciousness, to the
consternation of control freaks everywhere. This would include the
AMA and deity docs.

It's also filled with lies, stories and identity theft. So called news is
often opinion.... not a savior but just another form of communication,
as much a failing or saving grace as any human who communicates
with another.

Well, of course, there is that. In fact, I just got a rather naughty
invitation on my twitter this morning. What a piece of work is man.
The oldest profession in twittering!

Humans will be human, but with the Net, a worldwide consciousness
is developing, and "whistle-blowing" on the bad guys is only a touch
screen stroke away for anybody anywhere.

I love the internet how easy it makes it to connect with people who we would normally lose touch with. Emails, Facebook, etc.... it's amazing how fast information is traveling these days, and yes raising the worlds' consciousness... awe inspiring..

"Savior" is a bit strong, I guess, but consider the consciousness
raising carried out by Walt these past years. Here we have
information available that, in the past, has been discouraged or even
banned by powerful medical interests. And this is just one small
site.

With all the unfettered information floating around, though, one has
to learn to tell the difference between nonsense and useful
knowledge. Fortunately for the snake oil sales people, there is no
shortage of naive folks who will believe almost anything.

I slow down on facebook too at times, SF, and I suppose it is because
of heavy traffic.

Thanks, Jim.

It is rewarding to see many of my beliefs and policies being gradually added to our "disease-care problem" as solutions that were obvious to me 40 years ago.

Namaste`

Walt
