My son is 5 years old and recently has started to refrain from going to the bathroom. He has never done this before. He says that his peepee aches whenever he pees and he'll try to hold it all day long. Nothing is visibly wrong, and it's been going on for 2 weeks now. He has no problem pooping, it's just when he has to pee.

He very possibly has a urinary tract infection. That can really burn when he urinates. Have you had him to the doctor to be checked? If not, I would suggest you do asap.

Sounds like a urine infection to me. Maybe try pushing the water and take his temperature until you can see a doc.

sounds like a uti to me. give him plenty of cranberry juice and plenty of water and see if that improves it in about 3-5 days

I agree it sounds like a uninary tract infection. My daughter used to get them when she was little. With girls at least soaking too long in bubble bath can cause them and she loved to play in the bubbles for a long time. I would get him to the doc. soon. Two weeks is way too long to suffer with a uti or any pain in the private area. Let us know what they find. Good luck!

Hi, Lori J.
I agree with the UTI probability. However, UTIs are so unusual with male children that one proven infection deserves a complete workup by a urologist.
Get a urinalysis at once and let us know what you learn.
