I had a stone on my right side removed by the "basket?" procedure. The dr said I also had a stone in both kidneys, but were not trying to pass- for now. The dr said the ureter was almost closed up and had scar tissue from the same procedure done four years ago. The dr placed a stent in my ureter for one week. After the stent was removed, I started having pain in my bladder on the right side, at one time i could not urinate. After a couple visits to the ER, I was admitted again to control the pain. I had an IVP and CT scan. The dr said he does not see a stone on the right side, however, the stone on the left is still in my kidney. Still in severe pain, my dr advised we should take a look into the bladder for any lesions. The right side of the bladder, just below the opening to the ureter was very irritated, red, and swollen. No other abnormalities. The dr said the pain is from the "angry" bladder and the pain will decrease over a few days. The stone appears to have disappeared. I have been straining my urine ever since the first ER visit and have not passed a stone or fragments. The dr says the stone would not have busted up on its own(without help from procedures or meds) and appears to have disappeared. Could the stone have been hidden during the procedure with the scope into my bladder? Or could it have busted up to such a fine particle to have passed through the strainer? I still have intermitted pain on the right side of my bladder. Have the need to urinate very often. Also, sometmes during urination I feel the need to empty the bladder more and cannot. Should a get another opinion or is this somewhat typical? Maybe an infection? Or can the stone be hidden in my bladder, moving around and sometimes partialy blocking uring from escaping- causing the pain?
Thank you for any information.

Hi, Ken.
I guess my real question is why your doc is choosing not to use the lithotripsey approach to your stones? This has been a routine way to avoid kidney stone surgery for at least 20 years.
Finally, what have you been told that YOU can do to prevent any more from forming? Do you know what the chemical analysis of your stones is?
