Merry XMAS Drs. Stoll & Ferguson -- Torn Cartilage:

Posted by Antonio on December 25, 1998 at 08:00:32:

Dear Drs. Stoll & Ferguson:

This is to wish both of you (as well as those who help you in keeping this BB going) the best in this holiday season and a healthy and prosperous 1999. This message would have been posted earlier, but I had computer problems last week and just got back to normal yesterday.

My knee with the torn cartilage has improved appreciably in the last 3 months. I really want to extend my thanks and gratitude to both of you for guiding me to a substantial improvement and avoiding arthroscopic surgery. In a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being complete recovery I think I am at a # 8 and still improving. At this moment I am not thinking about surgery at all. This bulletin board has been great. Thanks to Dr. Stoll, and others that help him, for the time and effort they put in keeping it going.

I am still going to a chiropractor for knee adjustments about once/month and now I am doing both stretching and strengthening exercises. With the winter in full strength over here I have not been doing much waking for the last few weeks. Most of the time I can now go upstairs/downstairs (sometimes carrying a heavy weight) with minimum or no pain.

In the skilled relaxation front I try to do 2 - 20 minutes sessions every day, but when things get hectic I have been doing one 20 or 30 min session only. I have a couple of tapes "Sound Healing" and "Healing Meditation" and I alternate between them. These claim to have "delta frequencies" associated with healing". I assumed that if the alpha state was good the delta will be better (do you or anyone else have any comments about it?). I assume these work reasonably well because most of the time I get the tingling not only in my finger tips, but on the whole body. (any comments?)

Well this is all for now. Any one reading this message with knee (torn cartilage) problems is welcome to contact me (leave a message here or send me an e-mail) for more details & help.

Best regards to both of you.

Antonio

Thanks, Antonio, for your kind words!

NOW, what are you doing walking up or down steps "sometimes with heavy loads" testing out your knee? You are really testing structures before your knee is ready for it and risking reinjury that may not be so responsive to what you are doing.

This is one of the problems with the effectiveness of the approach Doc Dave & I have suggested for you. It works so well that people frequently get overconfident and reinjure themselves (sigh).

You are to be congratulated on your persistance & progress. I just had to warn you about what you are doing.

Namaste` Walt

Dear Dr. Stoll:

Sorry to be late with this reply. Thank you for your advice. As usual, it is ALWAYS welcome. Believe me I am trying to take care of those knees, but when I sent you my prior message I had been having computer problems and ended up taking my computer to a techie friend of mine to work on it. The computer case (about 20 lbs or so) was the heavy load that I had to carry up/down stairs a couple of times. I try to minimize my trips up/down stairs.

Maybe I was indeed guilty of a little bit of "testing" to see if I was getting better. As I mentioned to you before I live in a house in which I need to go up/down by 14 steps each time I go in/out of the house. The fact I can take these steps with minimal pain is encouraging (some times the pain going down stairs is more than going up --for the first 2 to 4 steps and then it disappears--).

I wish you and all others that work in maintaining your BB a healthy, happy and prosperous 1999.

Namastè Antonio
