knees

OK. So I'm 58, used to run a lot ( Army and all that).
My knees are not so flexible any more and they get stiff.
But, they work OK except for a crunching noise when I
walk or when I take the load off my feet and flex the
lower leg. What is the noise? Is it a sign of me falling
apart? I admit that when I play tennis I do get stiff-
ness and some pain upon stretching the legs... and I do
get a prolonged dull pain after a "workout"...

Thank You

Hi, p.

Basically it IS the sound of your falling apart. This is the sound of your cartileges disintegrating and the pieces being ground against what is left.

You should start doing only underwater exercises and start the eessential oils on the homepage along with at least 750 milligrams of glucosamine twice a day.

Too bad you are going to have to give up tennis but you only have so many steps left in your life on these knees. You are going to have to decide how you are going to spend them.

Hope this helps. Let us know how you do.

Walt

My knees and shoulders creak (is this the same as "crunch")
all the time. And so does my back. I've had X-rays and an
MRI performed on both knees (for knee pain) and neither test
showed any sign of cartilege disintegration or arthitis.
Why do they creak all the time?? I'm pretty flexible and
have worked out all my life (jogging, kickboxing weight
training, etc.)

FYI, Recently I stopped jogging because I learned it wasn't
good for varicose veins. Could the varicose veins be
causing me my knee pain? The pain is is my right knee and
my varicose veins are also on the back of my right leg?

It's interesting...I note that when I have sugar or carbs
(which isn't really that often), my joint pain flares up.

I.

Hi, Isabella.

Congratulations on your exercise program.

"Creaking" is usually associated with ligamentous stress while "crunching" is due to cartilaginous damage. Of the 2, you have the best.

Ligamentous problems like this are usually resolved by eliminating bracing (the most common cause) while getting early results from stuff like Rolfing and looking into Alexander Technique OR Feldenkrais (see your library) for prevention of recurrance.

Listen to your bodymind for dietary changes.

Let us know how you do.

Walt
