Not DVT - Not Bakers Cyst - So what now??

About two months ago I began experiencing sharp pain in my right calf only when walking down a flight of stairs and I can’t recall doing anything that would have caused an injury. About three weeks after the onset of the pain, the ankle of the same leg began to swell and when you press on the swollen area it leaves a big dent in the skin. My doctor suspected a DVT and immediately sent me to have a Venus Dopplar done, which came back negative. I went back to the doctor a couple of weeks later and he prescribed a water pill (which I take everyday with no changes what-so-ever), saying that sometimes with age (I’m 29, 5’8”, 170 lbs) the veins in the lower leg will become “less efficient” and cause the ankles to swell. I pointed out to him that only my right ankle is swelling and I am also having swelling behind my knee. So then he sent me to have an MRI done on my knee to look for a Bakers Cyst. I got the test results back today and they said that they didn’t find a Bakers Cyst or any tears. The only thing the report showed was “degenerative changes” in my knee and they are now “out of ideas” as to what is causing the pain and swelling. My ankle and foot swell so much that it looks deformed, making it difficult to even wear a shoe on that foot. I asked if I needed to be referred to a specialist and my doctor doesn’t feel that it’s necessary right now. I have searched the archives and I didn't find anything (other than bakers cyst and DVT) that sounds like what is going on with my leg. Any suggestions?
