I have been having yellow stools for the last 4 weeks. My GERD has been acting up, and I am experiencing more loose stools. But despite the consistency of the stool, it is always yellow. When I saw my GI a week ago I brought it up to him, and he seemed unconcerned. It just doesn't feel "right" to have yellow stools all the time. Any suggestions about what's causing this or what I should do?

Yellow stools can be from dumping too much bile, or biliruben....get your gall bladder and liver cheked with some blood work.
are the whites of your eyes yellow under the lids?

Hi Ken,
Listen to dd,
Yellow stools can also result from a bowel sterilized by antibiotics so consider that you may be deficient in benefical bacteria. Primal Defense would be a wise choice due to the pH-altering effects it has on the GI tract. This would allow more benefical bacteria to even survive in your gut. Skilled Relaxation is a must for you. I suspect that leaky gut may be at the root of this.

Unfortunately, I had my gallbladder out years ago. I checked my eyes and they are not yellow. But I will bring it up again when I see my GI next week. Another poster who replied to me suggested that antibiotic use may have something to do with it. As a matter of fact, I was on Z-Pack about 4 weeks ago. That's when the loose stools started. I wonder if my gut is still suffering the effects.

Hi, Ken C.
HY's suggestion fits your scenario.
So long as your stools are yellow, you are still passing some bile. If they get grey is the time to start worrying.
IF probiotics do not get you back to normal within a week, I would consider a liver flush to see what happens. See the liver archives.
Other than removing your GB, what did you do about the LGS that almost always is the base cause of GB problems?
Let us know how you do.
