candida contagious?

I apologize if this is a dumb question. If you are married to someone with candida are you more likely to get it, due to close proximity, etc? Thanks.

Yes, candida is very contagious. If one person in the household has it then more than likely everyone will evenually have it so be careful about kissing and eating after one another. Useually the man gets candida first then the wife contracts it thru kissing or intercourse.

My guess is no. Afterall, aren't we always in close proximity to it? I believe it's all over the place, in the air, all around us. Getting an overgrowth depends on individual health/immunity; you can't overgrow it unless you have leaky gut.

Hi, curious.

I agree with ph.

To Rick: where do you get your statistics?

Dr. Stoll-

This is an interesting point. I'm not sure if I have a Candida overgrowth, but am treating it as if I do. However, I DO KNOW I have LGS. I've been very disclipined with SR, diet and exercise for about 9 weeks now. I know I still have miles to go, but am seeing small improvements.

I never thought about the possibility that Candida might be contagious. My question is this: If I suspect that my husband might have a Candida overgrowith as well, in the interest of my own health, does that mean we should refrain from kissing and (gulp) having sex until my LGS is healed? Does a condom help this problem? I know that the logical thing would be to have him tested and get him on a wellness program ASAP, but I don't think he will do this (yet) (still working on him). In the meantime, how do I protect my own health and progress?

Thank you-
Jane

Hi, Jane.

No "gulp" reason for worry. You can get candida just easy from your surroundings as you can from someone who actually "has" it. This is a condition that is nearly totally dependent upon the individual preparing their garden to only grow candida.
