Should the peaches and pears be taken off the list for the elimination diet if one has candida overgrowth? And if so....any ideas for breakfast?

“CANDIDA/LEAKY GUT DIET”

WHAT YOU CAN EAT!

PROTEIN - Tofu, cold water fish like salmon, tuna (only once a week), turkey, chicken breast, lamb, and veal.

DAIRY - Eggs, low fat cottage cheese, yogurt, and Turkish cheese.

GRAINS - Brown rice, millet, buckwheat, and oats (if your not allergic).

VEGGIE FIBER - Asparagus, cabbage, broccoli, spinach, kale, lettuce, yams, beets, string beans, peas, carrots (not many), cucumbers, sauerkraut, onions, and garlic. NOTE: Juice your veggies if you can – you’ll take in more nutrition this way!

FRUITS – (Only one fruit per day) Pineapples, apples, pears, peaches, raspberries, blueberries, grapes, and bananas.
NOTE: Fruits should be eaten “ALONE” for breakfast!

NUTS - Almonds, macadamia nuts, cashews, and sesame seeds.

OILS - Extra virgin olive oil, coconut oil, organic butter, and sesame oil.

Pasta and Veggie Salads
Salad Dressing – It’s best to use olive oil or low fat salad dressing and instead of pouring it on your salad – just dip your fork in it – this cuts down on the amount that you consume.

NOTES:
To keep from adding more “STRESS” in your life – eat a desert on Wednesdays and Saturdays if you feel that you must!

Eat all Veggies either cooked or steamed!

Chew your food thoroughly before swallowing it!

Eat 4 to 6 small meals per day – rather than 3 large ones!
(Eating only one food item per meal - is much better for digestion)
Be careful with Soy products – most people are allergic to them!

Pick out 10 food items that you like and rotate them on a daily bases!

Do Not Over Eat – it’s very destructive to the digestive tract.

Use honey as a natural sweeteners but very sparingly!

Drink “ONLY” distilled water with mineral drops added or spring water! Drink 8 to 10 glasses per day.

Drink all liquids at room temperature!

Realize that food is “FUEL” for your body – not just for tasteful pleasure!

“HOW TO MAKE A BREAKFAST SMOOTHIE”
Put these items in a blender and mix:
One small banana
Half cup of blueberries
One cup of organic yogurt
Three teaspoons of whey powder
Two teaspoons of Greens Today powder supplement
One package of knox gelatin
Three teaspoons of designer protein powder
(Add water to fill blender to top)

FOODS AND DRINKS TO AVOID!

NO – Red Meat (the cows are feed grain and antibiotics), NO – Pork.
NO – Tomatoes or Tomato Sauce (to acidic).
NO – Sugar or sugar substitutes (it has no nutrional value except to feed your candida – consider it to be a toxic poison).
NO – Chocolate (like sugar – it’s a toxic poison that’s not fit for Human consumption).
NO – Potatoes (they convert to sugar after digestion).
NO – Breads or White Flour products (they are just fillers - which have no nutritional value and cause constipation).
NO – Wheat or Grains (anyone with a leaky gut is usually highly allergic to grains).
NO – Mushrooms, peppers or melons (they are moldy).
NEVER DRINK – Milk (it causes mucus to form in the intestinal tract and it contains antibiotics).
NO – Coffee (even decaf), tea, soda pop, orange juice or alcohol (these drinks are all to acidic – which is terrible for a person with an inflamed leaky gut).

Sorry to disagree, but, if I were you, I'd eliminate the fruits, too. I'm speaking from years of experience, as I'm sure is Rick, but that would be my preference.

Fish for breakfast...throw out your ideas of "meal specific" foods!

If you are running the E diet from the archives here, no, you should not eliminate the fruit. This diet is for 6 days and is used to uncover food allergies.

Of course one needs to use a bit of common sense, so it's not to say that you should eat only fruit for breakfast either. You need to make meals out of the foods - I think the rough guideline was about 1/2 a piece of fruit with each meal.

The idea is to mix your meals - such as try a bit of fruit with some vegetable for breakfast - and see how you feel. If you have no energy and need to eat again soon, you might try making a meal with only vegetables and fish - and see how you feel...next try veges fish and fruit...keep notes!

Your observations and notes will help you determine where to start on the metabolic scale, and so what foods to begin testing. (there's no sense testing AG foods if you're an HG) Keep notes as well when you start testing - it's very important that you can refer back as the testing progresses.

I am an HG and needed to eat fish 3 times a day in order to keep feeling well. Yes, Iearth, that meant fish for breakfast. If I were to eat too much fruit for breakfast, I'd be in a hypoglcyemic stupor in an hour or two!

Hope this helps.

an eliminaton diet does not work very well if you have an abundance of candida. This is because candida mimics the symptoms of food allergy

HY,

Then wouldn't you have ongoing symptoms - as opposed to a symptom just showing up when you ate a specific food?

I think that the candida infection would have to be MASSIVE to really mess up results.

In many cases, it's not known whether a person actually has candida. So many with symptoms are simply suffering from LGS and CFS.

I know that McFerran has had many folks run the ediet with success who were *subsequently* diagnosed as having candida with bloodwork. He had them get tested after the ediet. Many who thought they had candida did not - their symptoms were coming from LGS or another source.
