Ulcerative Colitis - help me please

Hello,

I was diagnosed with UC not quite a year ago. Initially it was proctitis, and I had about six good months taking two suppositories daily.

Recently that has all ended. I have been on three different anti-inflammatory meds with absolutely no success. In fact, I often think that they make me worse.
A stool test for C. Diff came back negative.

I have also been working with an herbalist who does muscle testing. I have taken flora supplements, flaxseed oil, anti-parasitic formulas and anti-inflammatory herbs to name a few. These work good for about two weeks, and then I am back to square one.

I am lucky enough to have no ill effects from UC. I only have occasional diarrhea. The blood/mucous, however, has usually been a daily problem.

I am a major stress-puppy, so I have been practicing on this. I have cut sugar way out, I don't eat breads/refined carbs.

I am so frustrated. I am only 24 and newly married. It is ruining every aspect of my life!!!!!!

I am deseperate. I am afraid that the longer my symptoms go on, the higher my risk will be for complications later (cancer - scares me).

I am going to see a naturopath next month, and I hope he can help. In the meantime, though, does anyone have any suggestions.

I have looked at the archives here, and I don't really understand the biofeedback idea, but I am interested.

Thanks so much to everyone,
Beth

P.S.
Has anyone heard anything about the Hagglund clinic in Oklahoma?

Please read Breaking the vicious cycle by Elaine Gottschalls but don't eat any legumes yet . Mesalamine helps and Rowasa enemas for the ulcerations . your GI doctor can give you those it really worked for my pseodomebranous colitis and allowed me to start the LGS diet listed here . Rice is soothing but now it sounds like juicing would be less painful for you. Cultrelle is so helpful and Seavive has colostrum , Beta glucan and seacure which is predigested whitefish ffor protein 1-800-247-5656 .
Don't give up and also try some cabbage juice , It contains L- glutamine . Flaxseed oil may help also but all this is in the LGS diet here on this site D/L this info .
The SR self relaxation helps immensely and I personally think colostrum has the fastest soothing effect and mesalamine when your really ulcerated along with juicing .
Good luck and no refined sugars or wheat (gluten ) white rice instead ...

Hi, Beth.

This is a totally unnecessary condition!

What have you learned from the LGS archives???

Listen to Rick And Jeff K.

What, exactly, have you been doing with SR?

See the glossary for any unfamiliar terms.

Hi Beth,
I had a friend with Ulcerative Colitis. She had lots of STRESS in her life. The colitis wasn't just something that happened over night. I watched it develop. The most important thing to begin #1 is SR. Then diet is #2. When my friend was sick, HY suggested the book "Nourishing Traditions", by Sally Fallon. You can read the sympmtoms for candida to see if you think you have candida or have tests done by your doctor. There is an anti-candida diet and while your on the diet you take anti-fungals for 3 to 6 months. One of the MOST EXCELLENT products you can start taking right now for your colitis is Primal Defence. Its good for the colitis and for candida. It creates an environment that candida can't live in. You can order Primal defence from this website. http://lifeextensionvitamins.com/primaldefense.html
If you need more help, after reading the glossary and archives come back and ask more questions.
Hope this helps you out.

Ulcerative Colitis Program

Hi Beth,

Don't panic, UC is not so difficult to get control of anymore, at least from a holistic point of view. I'm not supposed to say this, but this program HAS cured cases of UC (or legally----put UC into remission). You can look into the details on your own but I will give you the steps to go on.
__________________________________________
1. DIET
a. Specific Carbohydrate Diet = they allow some beans and certain flours made from beans and nuts. I recommend that you avoid them both. Also, avoid peanuts even though they are allowed.
b. Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon = using the foods allowed on the Specific Carbohydrate diet, use this book to follow preparation instructions. This book contains correct ways to prepare foods for optimal digestion. Especially take advantage of the lactofermented foods that are listed in this book. This is KEY for you and your recovery.
____________________________________________
2. SR = SR is the only therapy proven to heal UC without any other modality. However, I believe in combining SR with diet and supplements to get the best possible chance of healing.
_____________________________________________
3. SUPPLEMENTS
a. Primal Defense (12 caps per day for 3 months, 3-6 caps per day thereafter) = will reduce inflammation, provide lactic acid bacteria, and begin to heal your condition
b. SeaCure (2 caps 3x per day on empty stomach for 1-3 months, then 1 cap 3x per day to maintain)
c. Fish oil (1 cap 3-4x daily.) = Use a pharmaceutical-grade fish oil that has been purified through mollecular distillation. Doses can be up to 1 cap for every 20pds of body weight but do this under the care of a nutritionally-oriented physician as it IS possible to overdose on fish oil.
_________________________________________________
Two other supplemental possiblities include:

1. FYI = this is a new product from garden-of-life that has been shown in early studies to lower inflammatory markers such as C-reactive protein by 55%.

2. A.M.P Molocure = I have just discovered this product although I have no experience with it. They claim it to cure UC and Crohns disease. They show colonoscopies before and after using the product. Studies are offered to back up the product

My advise is to do a search on all of the above at www.google.com and see SR and LGS here in the archives.
________________________________________________________
Also, RAW dairy products have been shown to relieve inflammation in the intestinal tract. ONLY consume raw dairy as yogurt and kefir for now. You are better off making it yourself. Just make sure to incubate the drink for 24 hours and up to 30hours before consuming it. This is because the lactose can upset your condition. Yogurt fermented longer than 24 hours as NO lactose. Go to www.eatwild.com to find a source.

You have the power to heal yourself. You have a lot to look at. Let me know if you have questions

Thanks, HY.

Even enemas of high colonic washings of normal people are highly effective.

In MY experience, this is a totally unnecessary condition!

Yes, I agree. Also, studies have shown that enemas infused with butyrate can heal lesions of the lower colon and rectum rather quickly.
