dear dr. stoll,
i have had several episodes in the last few years of explosive diarrhea 20 min. after eating. the episodes last for several days and it doesn't matter what i eat. the result is the same. a spoonful of jello has the same effect as a real meal. I am 62 and i had my gall bladder out about 5 years ago. I'm not sure that it began after this surgery, but i think so. also, once i had a purple toe that looked bruised, but wasn't. It wasn't painful and it went away after a couple of days as I recall. This has not happened again, but it was very odd.
Can you help explain why in the world I would have explosive diarrhea 20 min. after eating or drinking? I usually eat very little during these episodes and they clear up spontaneously. My Dr. says that since my gall bladder was removed, i have extra bile, etc. This doesn't feel like the right diagnosis to me.
HELP!
Diane

Hi Diane,
What you have may be irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). If you search this site for IBS or read the leaky gut syndrome archives, you will find some good information.
Take care,
Daisy

Hi, diane.
Listen to Daisy.
This is an example of the bankrupt nature of the simplistic allopathic monopoly: "removing the gallbladder does nothing for LGS, the cause of the problem". Your current IBS is the proof. Had the LGS been addressed back then, you would not have what you have right now.
Let us know what you learn.

I was like that for about 3 weeks, until I went and had an acupuncture session. He also sent some herbs home with me. I didn't even need a second session. The doctors had told me that I had IBS and it would require lifelong management, but they were way wrong!
