I have cut out all sugar on mydiet. ONly eat certain pieces of fruit, such as kiwi fruit, grapefruit.
But I am unsure of something. is it ok for me to eat yoghurt, butter, whilst on this diet.
Is SR the most important thing in healing LGS which has led to my candida,or the other two stools? I can do the sr almost perfectly, but the diet and exercise are a whole nother story.
Cheers.

Hi. I believe there are different anti-candida diets circulating around out there. The one I've been following is the one recommended in Beth's book, discussed on the C-RS page of this site:
http://askwaltstollmd.com/candida.html
She advises to simply follow a whole foods diet for 6 months or so: no sugar of *any* kind including Malt, etc., no refined grains or carbs, no caffeine, no alcohol even in spray cooking oils, no fruit juices (because they are refined). The only thing besides the whole foods diet that she recommends for people treating Candida is **NO** fruit for 3 or more months. And then you have to slowly test re-introduction. So that would mean eliminating the kiwi and grapefruit.
Since yogurt and butter are "whole" foods, under Beth's diet you can eat them. But you have to buy *plain* yogurt (with no sweetener or flavors added, as flavouring is usually fruit or fruit juice).
If you don't already have this book, I really recommend it. She gives *very* clear advice, and offers a lot of recipes, etc.

This regime seems very harsh (no fruit for 3 months) although when 'done' no-one should resume the sugar anyway, except for an occasional glass of wine ;)
Just as important as eliminating sugar is temporarily eliminating yeast and yeast-forming foods as well as taking a fungicidal and restoring the regime with probiotics. Probiotics will need to be reinstitued somehow anyway. That's the approach I took. It was harsh at the beginning, but only for about a month. Then it was a moderate diet for a few more months. I now drink lots of red wine (naughty, naughty!) and don't suffer at all.

Citrus fruits are ok'd on the anti-candida diet, once or twice a day. The other important things to take are the anti-fungals. As far as I know the only probiotic that you should take while trying to rid your body of candida is Primal Defence. PD changes your bodies enviornment so that Candida cannot survive in the body. SR is one of the most important ingredients in the healing process. It is hard getting into the swing of things. When I started I got the diet and anti-fungals going ok, but then I needed to work on the SR. Sounds like your doing good!

I'll go back and re-read that part tonight. but I *thought* it did call for the total elimination of fruit for about 3 months. ??
Is everyone else talking about a DIFFERENT anti-candida diet? (besides the one advised in The Healing Power of Whole Foods)
Very sorry if I advised incorrectly!
Thnx,
:) Wendy

Kiwi is too high in sugar. It is best to consume only granny smith apple and berries while on the anti candida diet.
1 serving a day of yogurt is fine as long as it is, at the very least, unhomogenized. Raw yogurt would be ideal. Butter is fine. All fats (if healthy) are fine. Lower starches and grains.
SR IS most important but I don't know of anyone that got rid of candida doing SR BUT eating sugar!! It is my opinion that SR and Diet work together (as well as other wellness tools). Each has many benefits but combined, they form a synergystic combination that is more powerful than each on their own. I hope that helps

Thanks, HY.
The SR helps get rid of the LGS and then the C-RS can be directly and successfully addressed.

Thanks, Wandy O.
In MY experience Beth's diet cut the treatment time for C-RS by about 75%. I do not think that anyone shoud try treating C-RS with diet without first understanding Beth's book.

You are perfectly correct (If one is interested in the greatest % cure with the least withdrawal and cravings.)
A small % will succeed eating some fruit but, in my experience it is not worth the risk.

Thanks, Myelinman.
Congratulations on your results. The reason I recommend what I do is to give the people the greatest % chance of cure. Obviously some small % will do fine with less compulsive adherance but they are in the minority.

Hi, Candida.
I would recommend starting one leg, and do it right. You will know what you are ready to do the next leg.
Let us know how you do.

I have cut all sugars out of my diet, including fruit.
I was thinking of cutting out carbohydrates as well, and maybe just have one serving per day of carbs as I think that even grains feed the candida. Whats your opinion on this HY, and how long do you think I couuld safely stay off carbs for . So my diet would mainly consist of protein, fruit and veg, dairy products such as yoghurt and butter, nuts, etc.
I am currently drink Pau d'arco tea. Is this a powerful enough anti fungal?

Hi, Maria.
Hope you do not mind my butting in here.
ANY whole grain is O.K. unless you are hypersensitive to it.
