Are There ANY Leaky Gut Success Stories? (?Dr. Stoll?)

Hi Dr. Stoll.

From what I can see, your primary response to LGS is SR (skillful relaxation). Do you know anyone who has recovered completely with this method? (And remained healthy.)

Also, much of this BB's responses re: LGS is discussion of Bob McFarren's HG/Agric/Mixed diets. But that diet is SO EXTREME that the human sensibility cries out that there MUST BE other remedies.

I have read your book, and understand the intricate relationship between the mind/body, especially re: stress.

Please give us some success stories to motivate us in our healing searches.

Many thanks.

Bernice

Bernice,

I understand where your coming from. I've read alot of material here on the BB (old and new) and I'm slowly putting the pieces together. It is starting to make sense, but obviously having real live examples that have worked help fit everything in place just right. And I'm not sure if you have this feeling but I know I do ... after hearing so many people and professionals tell me what to do and how to do it (about my condition); I don't automatically jump when they say this is how you get rid of your '(put your condition here)'.
Now I'm not knocking Walt, Robert, Dave or any of the other people that gladly give their efforts and time to this BB.
I for one am thankful that this BB exists and am thankful for all the time Walt, Robert, Dave and the many other people put into helping others.
basically that's my long version of yes I like examples too :)

I'll tell you this though. If I conquer my 'gift' someday I can guarentee that I will write a curiculum vitaie concerning my 'gift' and what I did to treat it and use it as an example in helping others.

Radical Diet is comparative

Several thoughts, for whatever they may be worth.

1) You will find only that which you are looking for. If what Bob suggests is not what you are looking for (open to) then you will likely simply discount it. Sometimes we must be willing to find that which we are not specifically "looking for".

2) Modern man's typical diet (grossly overgeneralizing here to lump all modern men together as if they all ate the same) may well be EXTREME - totally different from that of his ancestors. So a suggested diet that looks EXTREME/radical to us today may be very close to what our ancestors ate like. And it may well work very well for us today, people who presumably have not evolved much since then.

So keep a somewhat open mind here and elsewhere and then listen to what YOUR body tells you in response to what you eat, drink, think, and do.

Hope that helps!

Hi, Bernice.

I know of NO ONE whose LGS did not resolve within 6-12 months of effective SR.

Not only that, but the vast majority of those saw coincidental improvement of any chronic conditions they had whether or not they were related to their LGS.

Why not put a note on the BB titled something like "Clearing LGS testimonials?" and see what you get.

Leaky Gut and Motivation to Reverse it

Berenice

I agree with Jim that what is EXTREME is the American diet. It has become almost totally harmful ingredients, very "unnatural". Many people don't eat anything that doesn't come in a package, which means they are getting processed food, and what is radical about Bob's diet is that you have to eat food that isn't packaged/processed, and you are educated into knowing how to make the best choices of foods to give you optimum energy. That would not be a radical diet in most countries. For instance, when I was in Australia two years ago I would have had an easy time eating Bob's foods there, because they aren't as "advanced" as the USA in their culinary offerings. They also don't have as many digestive problems. So look at it from the position that we happen to live in the country with the most sophisticated (developed) eating style, which is apparently very detrimental to the human digestive system.

When we eat processed food, we experience STRESS in our bodies from the effects of it. It takes its toll on our bodies in the same way an emotional crisis would, in that the stress is stored in the hypothalmus of the brain. We used to be able to release the built up stress overnight, but now we Americans receive so many stressors each day that we can't release the build-up overnight, and every day we add more to the pile. Eventually, whatever is YOUR weakest organ system will be affected by this growing amount of stored stress. If you have cardiovascular weakness in your genes, you'll experience atherosclerosis, stroke, heart attack. If it's your digestive system, you'll develop leaky gut, which leads to allergies, which leads to auto-immune disorders such as fibromyalgia, in my case. I think if I had not addressed the breakdown I was experiencing, it would have eventually led to cancer for me, because if you have leaky gut, toxins, carcinogens, food additives are going directly into your bloodstream.

There's no point trying to reverse LGS if you are still living a high-stress life, because your stress storage is going to continue to damage your digestive tract. Skilled relaxation techniques slowly release that stored stress. It is mandatory to do this, because during SR the blood supply which has been demanded by your muscles and your brain is released as you relax, and the blood supply can return to your digestive tract and your extremities. You probably know that a highly stressed person usually has cold hands, takes antacids, has trouble sleeping. Think about it, and see if you aren't beginning to catch on to what's happening.

Can you now understand why radical measures are required? I pity the person who does not understand the path we Americans are choosing, and we savor the affluence we are gaining from our high-stress lives, and we buzz through a fast food drive-thru establishment so we can continue to drive down the road to an early death.

Peace --
Johnelle

Hi Johnelle,

Rachel Carson's Silent Spring is now 35 years old. Written over the years 1958 to 1962, it took a hard look at the effects of insecticides and pesticides on songbird populations throughout the United States, whose declining numbers yielded the silence to which her title attests.

"What happens in nature is not allowed to happen in the modern, chemical-drenched world," she writes, "where spraying destroys not only the insects but also their principal enemy, the birds. When later there is a resurgence of the insect population, as almost always happens, the birds are not there to keep their numbers in check." The publication of her impeccably reported text helped change that trend by setting off a wave of environmental legislation and galvanizing the nascent ecological movement. It is justly considered a classic, and it is well worth rereading today.

This is a book review that I pulled off of the Amazon site. I've always been impressed with SILENT SPRING since it was written by a woman who was not a scientist, biochemist or a toxicologist. Rachel Carson was a birdwatcher. If you read her book today you will be struck with how true her predictions have become.

The question that goes begging is why others couldn't/wouldn't make the same obvious observations that were made by this birdwatcher over 35 years ago.

The nature of diet and it's impact on human health are equally obvious but we are just as much in denial as the naysayers of Rachel Carson's time.

Will humanity have to suffer a 'silent spring' before awakening?

Bob

Hi Bob

So true! I will try to order Silent Spring; sounds very good. Is it a downer though?

I have learned to keep my mouth shut about the stuff we're eating, because I'm usually around people when ... we're eating. They just don't want to hear it. So I wait for another opportunity to move in for the kill -- heh heh.

Have a great weekend!

Hi, Bernice.

I think the ? at the end is pretty important to get the stuff you are looking for. Without the ? the thought is that you are offering testimonials. With the ? it says that you are looking for them.

Johnelle,

You really don't have to read SILENT SPRING to get the point. I KNOW that you already get it.

I just brought it up since a whole foods diet is OBVIOUSLY what we should all be eating. It's a common sense type of thing that many of us seem to be lacking.

Johnelle helped me to get on the diet. I had been unable to sleep well because of severely itching skin allergies. My dermatologist had told me all my problems were "contact" caused, since a few years earlier I had developed a severe facial dermatitis because of the installation of formaldehyde laden paneling in my bathroom. Now that I am on the whole foods diet and am aware of the few foods I should eat only occasionally, or never, I can sleep with nary an itch. Yes, it's hard to do, but good sleep is worth it!

Jenny,

Thanks for the testimonial. You've managed to 'push yourself back away from the edge of the cliff' -- at least far enough that you aren't itching any more.

If you haven't already read Dr. Stoll's book I would strongly recommend it. Most folks read it and have trouble believing what he is saying since (until they run something like the E-diet and metabolic diet) they don't have the strong experience that you have witnessed first hand.

Diet is critical, but there are other things that can help you push even further back from the cliff so that you can continue to enjoy good health.

Thanks, Jennie.

Your testimonial may help others stop to think that there IS a better way. Listen to Bob. This is not the time to stop learning.

So, your dermatologist was wrong was he? Sticking, exclusively, with the allopathic paradigm is a very crippling thing. He has the Tolstoy Syndrome as bad as most.

Walt
