Bleeding Ulcer - Not gall bladder ?? - Signs of bleeding ulcer ?

Posted by Melissa on October 16, 2002 at 07:48:18:

Someone mentioned that they had a friend with my same symtoms who has a bleeding ulcer. This could very well be what I have but I do not have blood in my stool.

I had a blood test again yesterday - the dr. was looking for something called Billy Rueben (?) and said the test came back fine. He now thinks my problem is an ulcer or GERD.

He gave me some prevacid but once I took it my stomach was even more painful than before. After thinking about this for a few minutes I realized that for the past 4 1/2 weeks if I take ANYTHING by mouth - my stomach gets very painful and I get the dreaded diarrhea.

He then prescribed Compazine supositories and told me to try some Mylanta. The compazine works for about 3 hours and the Mylanta seems to help a little bit but I am still so very tired and thirsty. I still have the yellow diarrhea too.

Is it possible to have a bleeding ulcer without blood in the stool ? I haven't been vomiting because I won't let myself - I instead have diarrhea. My next step is an ultra sound for the gall bladder - which I am sure it is NOT -- and then a Scope to look for an ulcer.

I hate the idea of a Scope but right now I am willing to try anything to get better.

Today - after being on Compazine and Mylanta for 24 hours .. I am able to drink water again ( a couple sips at a time ) and I had a couple of bites of jello but I will soon be having diarrhea so I'm not sure what good it's doing me to drink anything.

Any thoughts ? Please pass them along. I'm hoping this will clear up on its own with rest and fluids but it's been almost 5 weeks now.

Thanks

look here for info on bilirubin...it might help you to learn what they're looking for.

This friend did not know she had blood in her stool until they did an actual test on the stool. Have you had this test done?

I'm not saying it's not your gall bladder, I have no idea what's going on. But, I thought I would just give you some info since I saw someone suffer what you are going through. Only this friend did vomit quite often and she turned yellow.

look into the supplements DGL and Mastica. They help with healing ulcers. Get a breath test done to check for h. pylori bacteria infection which causes most ulcers.

Does H. Pylori really "cause" ulcers, or is it just at the scene of the crime, invading where damaged tissue is and making the situation worse?

Good thinking, HP; (far beyond the "professionals" that are supposed to do this kind of thinking (At least we pay them to do that.)

The process is: chronic stress storage in the hypothalamus, loss of blood suppply so the lining gets thinner, finally formation of an ulcer and loss of the normal resistance to H. Pylori (present in every one of us). Then treating the H.Pylori can help heal the current ulcer but it eventually comes back because the LGS is still present. In the meantine, the treatment for the bacterium (antibiotics) also kill whatever healthy germs the colon has to protect itself from the further depradations of what is already happening from the LGS.

More money for the allopathic paradigm. Pretty good business isn't it?

Walt

Thanks Dr. Stoll! I had a "gut" feeling there was much more to ulcers than H. Pylori, take an antibiotic and there, you're fixed. Fixed, alright, in a vicious circle.
