hives in 2 yr. old!!

Dear Dr.Stoll-
This web site has been so helpful to me in the past. I am hoping it can help my little boy. He woke up with hives all over his body today. I took him to the doctor and was told to write down all the things he had eaten in the past 48 hours and to give him Benedryl. Due to milk allergies, he only drinks soy milk. He did have a sucker and a chocolate bar-darn this Halloween stuff!:) Anyway the research I did here pointed to LGS. How can my little guy have this--he usually eats very well. Thanks for any and all advice. You provide a Great service. Thank you-Dee

you may think that this sounds crazy, but my nephew breaks out with hives about once a year and it is from allergies. Not, allergies such as allergic reaction due to eating or being around something but allergies from being sick (stuffy nose, drainage) and breaking out in hives is a way of it surfacing. He still breaks out about once a yr. I thought the dr. was crazy when he said that he would do this possibly until he is grown. He is 16 yrs old now and it has not happened in about 2 yrs. Hope this helps.

Hi, Dee.

Listen to Nita.

HOWEVER, I would suggest that this little tyke was born with a genetic susceptibility to LGS (This is why you already know about his allergies.) and that this is but the tip of the iceberg.

He probably not only has an LGS susceptibility but C-RS as well. This ratio will change as he gets older but other complications of this problem will likely bedevil him in it's place.

In MY opinion, you would be wise to learn about C-RS and pass this understanding on to him as he gets older.

Let us know how he does. His current doc is doing the best I know for suppressing his symptoms (without bothering to even think about the causes).

Walt
