I am on pervacid for gasritis. I dont see anyone on the boards that suffer this. It is a condition i am told where things dont move down and out(bowel movements) I am a type a blood-suppose to have low stomach acid. I get so many gas pains and pressure up there with out taking prevacid. When i take prevacid i get cold-when things bother my stomach i get cold. Yes i am weird. what else can i do. I dont see where ginger helps gasritis.

Dee, my mother's on prevacid to counteract the horrendous destruction from fosamex. Unfortunately she's totally dependent on it, it's horrible. If I were you, I'd try to ween yourself off. I am also a blood type A, and I know exactly what you mean about digestive problems. Sometime over the last year I tried the Blood Diet, and it completely eliminated my terrible heartburn, when nothing else could.

I would recommend the blood diet, the whole foods diet they recommend here, and the elimination diet -- to determine what you might be allergic to and to determine your metabolic type.

Stay away from sugar, dairy, spicey food [darn], fried food, and heavily processed food with lots of preservatives. I bet you can beat this just by changing your diet. Also, Betaline HCI tablets are good as well as pinneaple juice to help with digestion!

As for the food not going down, I have had food stuck that almost killed me. Two weeks ago I turned blue and came close to passing out because chicken got caught and wouldn't go down. Eat very slowly, chew very carefully, don't eat too much meat or fowl too fast, and you have to be sitting in the right position. I don't drink liquids when I eat because it aides digestion, but I make sure some is handy when I eat heavy meats just in case.
