LGS and test results

Posted by holly [20.308] on April 24, 2004 at 07:11:30:

I am wondering if it is possible to have LGS and still have a fairly normal Comprehensive Digestive Stool Analysis? I have been investigating the LGS thing (while doing the 3LS to fix it) and think that I do have that. I had a lot of risk factors for it, 10 years on BC pills, off and on antibiotics, bad diet, stress. When I had the stool analysis done when I first got sick, the only thing that was abnormal was my metabolic markers. Everything else looked good. I now have a lot of food intolerances, so I know that LGS is now an issue, but curious if it was the problem before, too.

Hi, Holly.

Remember that even well established lab tests are VERY crude--compared to how they will be judged in 50 years. Tests for LGS are really in their infancy and as such frequently have false negatives.

By far, the best diagnoses are made by the analysis of the pattern of symptoms and how the person does when she deals with it. Since serious wellness and probiotics can only be helpful to anyone's general well-being, there can be no harm from trying it.

Hope this helps.

Walt

Thanks Dr. Stoll. You know, I have been racking my brain about the test results and comparing that to my symptoms. I just couldn't understand how I could have the symptoms but have such an inconclusive test result. I never even thought of the possibility of a false negative result. I have been doing wellness for some time now and am going to be adding more to my wellness plan. I am meeting with a naturopath on Monday to get some guidance as far as diet and supplements to heal the LGS. I am on the PWFD, but want to start rotating foods and develop a good diet plan to help me start gaining some weight. Thanks for all your help, with this question, and the many others that I have had in the past.

I am doing a program by Dr Michael Biamonte and having great success. I am also doing NAET for my food allergies. His site explains in great detail leaky gut, what causes it and how to fix it. Do a search and you'll find his site. He does phone consultations and also does ever kind of testing there is. He tests the urine for leaky gut. I know that sounds weird but his site explains it all. Good Luck!!

Shyann
