intestinal permiability urine test

Posted by BJ on November 07, 1998 at 15:01:46:

I suspect that I may be dealing with leaky gut syndrome and I understand that one of the simplest diagnostic tests is the intestinal permiability urine test. My current physician is supportive and willing to authorize the test but is unfamiliar with it. Could you please tell me exactly what is entailed so I can pass the information on to him.

Dear BJ,

Congratulations on having an open-minded physician.

Have him call Great Smokies Laboratories at (800) 522-4762. They can explain it to him (and any alternatives or corroborating tests) a lot better than I can.

Also, since there are likely no local labs even set up to DO such advanced tests, he will probably have to follow their protocols & send the specimens to them to assure accuracy-----after all they are one of the few labs in the country that have developed these tests and do them every day.

Let us know what you learn.
