A couple questions for Dr. Stoll

Posted by Jake on June 12, 2000 at 12:55:54:

Dr. Stoll

I just want to say that I read your very interesting book this weekend. I read it in a few hours and I have never finished a book this quickly! I really loved your book! I as referred to you from a friend that absolutely lives by your wellness suggestions. I was just recently diagnosed with Crohns disease of the terminal ileum. My doctor said it is "mild Crohns". After reading your book, I am more than eager to use your formula to better health. The whole foods diet, aerobic exercise, and SR. I am ordering the book by Martha Davis for the SR part of treatment. I just have a couple questions for you. The first one is if I follow exactly what you suggest, will my Crohns be cured? Or will it be more tolerable? I would love to know that it will disappear forever! That would be a joy! Also, have you ever heard of the book, "Breaking The Vicious Cycle" by Elaine Gottschell? Her book is strictly about diet for intestinal diseases. I was wondering if you know anything about her book and wondering if you concur with her opinion on the diet aspect of healing digestive diseases? I value your opinion immensely and would love to hear your view. I am very scared of this diagnosis of Crohns. I am scared of the possible complications that may occur and that my life will never be normal. Your book has helped me ease many concerns. I hope to hear from you soon! Anyone else that wishes to add anything would be ever so appreciated.

Hi, Jake.

You are right to be concerned about your diagnosis, since it is a very serious stage of LGS. Those who depend on purely conventional approaches to this condition are right to be "scared"!

I am not familiar with Gottschell's ideas.

For you to have Crohn's, you have to have a genetic susceptibility. This means that you can "cure" it like an alcoholic can be "cured". You will always have the susceptibility and so you will always have to do what resolves it to prevent it recurring. I hope this makes sense to you. You will be able to live a normal life and actually will come to bless the Crohn's for making you change your lifestyle.

I know it is hard for you to believe this right now but I have seen it happen too many times to not predict it.

You are fortunate that your condition is mild since it will be easier for you to see progress early.

Keep in touch.

Walt
