Dr. Stoll, probiotics and leaky gut

Posted by Bini on November 09, 2000 at 09:57:25:

Hi Dr. Stoll,

I just read in the archive about LGS. Now I wonder if you'd recommend taking probiotics (next to SR) to heal the leaky gut, if not why not ? You mentioned that yoghurt is not too good for the condition..I'm not sure if that might be the same reason why you don't recommend probiotics.

Once the gut is healed, might the body then have enough energy to fight viruses, bacteria, yeast by itself or is this rather impossible if the infections have already gotten pretty strong ?

As always thanks for your help,

Bini

Hi, Bini.

Probiotics are wonderful for helping LGS. The problem is that their benefit will only be temporary IF nothing is done about WHY they were lost in the beginning----they will just get lost again.

I said that yogurt (even live yogurt) was not good enough to help much----not that is was not good for dysbiosis. The average serving of yogurt has about 10,000 live organisms in it. The effective dose of probiotics is 6,000,000,000 live organisms/dose and 4 doses needed/day.

Hope this helps. A little FOS will go a long way to sustain the normnal colonic germs.

Dr. Stoll,

I've read several quotes from you saying that basically if you have leaky gut problems they will not be resolved unless you learn how to relax. I 've noticed everytime I notice my stomach it is clenched and tight. If I then consciously relax it have feeling I am going to lose control. I have been severely constipated since I was 3 years old, I'm 35 now and have been sick for about 14 years. I have so many food allergies I can't count them. If you now of any techniques or audio tapes that can help get my blood flowing well to my intestines I would be very appreciative.

Thank you,

JMann

Hi, JMann.

SR with specific imagery is the fastest thing I know to do this.

When a person is SO wound up tight that they feel a "loss of control" when they finally have a relaxation experience, they would benefit from the concentrated series of massages, Rolfing or Hellerwork to prepare their system for SR discharge of their terrible bracing.

Let us know how you do.

Walt
