ulcerative colitis

Dear Doctor and everyone,

My husband has ulcerative colitis and suffers with flare-ups several times a year. He takes medications including Lialda and prednisone for the flare-ups. What else can he do to prevent these flare-ups? Anyone have good results with anything?

I read a website that said antibacterials are actually natural antibiotics.

What is ulcerative colitis?
Ulcerative colitis is a disease that causes inflammation and sores, called ulcers, in the lining of the rectum and colon. Ulcers form where inflammation has killed the cells that usually line the colon, then bleed and produce pus. Inflammation in the colon also causes the colon to empty frequently, causing diarrhea.

Scotch snuff is what I use. I've used it on my wife for what her doctor said was spastic colon.

I believe "Everyone that has Colon disease is constipated". You may not believe that but I had UC for many many yrs. and almost died several times. I got as many as 7 pints of blood at one time.
I read about colon cleanse and was afraid to do it but when I did,it stopped my UC. God lead me to the info about colon cleanse and I did a 6 week cleanse and got well after 30 yrs. of suffering.

Hi Sharon,

I always wonder if an infectious cause such as Mycoplasma
might conribute to the immune attack on the mucosal lining of the colon. Something must be fooling the immune system into attacking his own cells.
Was there ever a PCR test done on a biopsy to look for
Mycoplasma?

The med that he is on is supposed to have a pretty good track record on UC..
Here is a link I found. See if that is close to
the good results that he achives (obviously not remission)

I used Coloix but I also used other herbs. I used "Digestive Bitters" from Natues Sunshine. I used "Natural Calm", disolve in boiling water and drink.I used Konsyl ,purcased at Wal-Mart.
You have to do this for 6 to 8 weeks. It took a lifetime to get in this shape, it takes time to undo!
You need to be going about 5 or 6 times a day! That's when I started to pass a bunch of stuff. I passed green stones,which I asume came from my liver as I have no Gallbladder. I passed a foot long piece of stool that was 3" in round. It was amazing the stuff I passed. To make a long storry short,when I finished the cleanse,it was like someone threw a switch and the UC was gone. I don't need ANY meds for it now. Before that I was on 8 Azulfadine, Prednisone,
Lomotil, Rowasa suppositories, and many many other meds that I took over the yrs.
Read on line "Death begins in the Colon" good info.
