A SIMPLE FREE TEST FOR LGS?

About a year ago there was a post on this BB regarding a test for LGS. As time has progressed I have become more and more curious if the test is a valid test. The post was made by a couple, one of which had LGS and one did not. They heard of a simple test that if one spits in a glass of water a personís spit with LGS will from thin strains of string like material around the spit. They ran the test and indeed the person with LGS had string like material form around the spit. They asked Dr. Stoll if this was a valid test. Dr. Stoll responded that he had never heard of such a test and did not know if there was any merit to the test. I would like to ask people on this board who have LGS to run this test and see if in fact string like material forms around their spit. I would also like people who know they do not have LGS to perform this test also. Then I think it would be helpful if these people would post there results on this BB. If this is a valid test it would be most helpful to many people on this BB. Would people on this BB be kind enough to respond to this request.

Hi Richard,

I hadn't read the spit post on the BB, but quite some time ago on a Candida website, I saw something similar. If memory serves me, it said that if one spit into a glass of water and if little strings of "stuff" started forming (or decending) from the spit ball (I'm grossing myself out here), that this was a positive test for Candida. Also, that the test is most accurate if done first thing in the morning.
Although LGS needs to be present for Candida overgrowth to occur, I believe that there are situations where one can have LGS and not be afflicted with rampant Candida.
Perhaps the test indicates one of the two situations mentioned above, however, I have no clear idea of which.
Just thought I would share what I had read on this topic.

Sharon

Could you please post the site in which you saw this test?

Thanks,

I read that also ...

"Another home test is the so-called "Spit Test." As soon as you wake up in the morning, before you have anything to eat or drink, spit into a glass of water.
Wait about five to ten minutes and then check the glass. Watch it for about another ten minutes to see what happens. Normally, the spit should remain on the surface of the water, or disperse evenly throughout the glass. If the spit slowly drops down into the water in a stringy fashion it is considered positive for Candidiasis. I am not aware of any research testing this approach so I can not testify to the validity of this test either."

this is just one page I saw it in, but I'm sure it was in others.

Thanks, Richard.

I will be very interested in watching what you learn.

You know that the conventional medical paradigm has been totally against ANY saliva testing as having any validity. Personally, I think it has to do with the fact that anyone can do it and there is no prescription ($) needed--but that is another story.

Recently, big advances have been in testing saliva and finding hormones, etc. (conventional medicine), there that no one had any idea.

"There are more things in heaven and earth than are dreamed of in your philosophy, Horatio." (Hamlet)

100 years from now people will look back on the "dark ages of medicine" (20th century) and marvel at our ignorance.

Namaste`

I`ve just tried the test and got the "stringy" effect...

I have just tried it earlier on, after 5 - 10 mins the spit was stringy in the glass.
I`m worried, does this mean I have LGS or candida.
I know that my immune system is normal, because I recently had a full blood count done. Immunity is related to candida isn`t it.
Can anyone give me any info here?

Mike
