Hi Rich,

You mentioned an anti-candida diet in a previous post (below). I find lots of variations of an anti-candida diet so am concerned I implement the right one.

You've lots of experience. Would you describe what you see as the best diet to help wack candida on the road to total wellness?

Thanks,

" Therefore, candida elimination is step 1. You need to follow the classic anti-candida diet for a period of 3 months to 9 months depending on the severity of the problem. Do everything in your power to increase bowel movements and to starve candida. Nothing else will be sucessful until this is done. "

Davey, check the other Candida posts on the 11th and 12th.
Rich listed several books also. I'm reading "The Yeast
Connection". All the books I have checked are basically
the same diet.
Barb

Thanks.

For you, I would start out by eliminating the following foods:

Gluten, dairy, fermented foods of ALL kinds, seeds (for 3 months then try), fruits except berries (1 serving a day only)

Eat ANY of the following:

meat, eggs, vegetables, legumes (1-2 servings a day), gluten-free grains (1-2 servings a day), nuts (not peanuts), berries (1 serving a day)

This is a general guideline. Do not exceed 3 servings TOTAL per day of any starchy food (grains, legumes, fruits, yams)

This kind of diet is for anyone with mild candida overgrowth. For Moderate overgrowth, follow the same diet but do not exceed 2 servings a day of starch. If you have extreme symptoms, only 1 serving a day of starch.

You can easily become constipated on this diet. If this happens, you can increase legumes, yams, nuts but cautiously. Or, you can add pysillium to your diet. This is not meant to be a ketogenic diet. Keep carbohydrates between 80-120g per day in mild cases, 80-90g in moderate cases, and 50-60g in severe cases. Hope this helps

Davey,

I would suggest you carefully read the candida archives. I was involved with the candida thing from the beginning (1976) and went through all of the stages of our understanding of a "candida diet" with my patients. The "classical" candida diet--still the one most commonly recommended by practitioners--takes about 2 years before one can modify it and still not have recurrance of the problem. It also takes months to start relieving symptoms.

However, the TOTAL elimination of refined carbohydrates diet (see the archives and the homepage article about refined carbohydrates) only takes about 3 months to work for the candida and can be modified with at least only a modicum of risk, within 6 months. Besides, it gives quicker symptomatic relief (average or 3 1/2 days) and is easier to do.

Hi Doc Stoll,

That's what troubles me. I have eliminated all refined carbs for 2 months now, use lots of natural antifungals and Nystatin and STIll have what appears to be yeast symptons. Allergy tests showed no food alergy. I tracked everything I ate for 30 days but could not relate food to symptons. White/gray/tan tongue (that does not brush off) being the most visible symptom (I could live with the cosmetic issues if I did not always feel so bad). Stomach is always gurgling, lots of lower GI gas.I even restricted natural carbs/starches--lost too much weight--no help.

Any ideas ? What's your opinion of live blood cell analysis, pleomorphism and Sanum remedies (Dr. Enderlein) as described by Dr Ron Kennedy at www.Medical-library.net

Thanks

Hi, Davey.

How are you doing with your SR?

We had a LiveCell machine in our office for about 10 years along with a well trained technician. It was a very helpful tool; in conjunction with all the other diagnostic tools I had at my disposal. I would hate to have to do ALL my diagnosing with just that instrument.

Hope this helps.

Walt
