Hives and IBS (link?)

Dr. Stoll,

For the past two months, I have been having itchy little bumps appear on my face and neck. They come and go each day and are very itchy and irritating. I am assuming they are hives. At the same time, over the last two months I have been having lots of bowel problems, upset stomach, everything from diahrea to constipation. Everyone tells me I probably have IBS. I have always had stomach problems, but lately, it has been terrible. Could the hives and IBS be connected? What can I do? I am miserable!!!

In my opinion, those bumps are allergic reactions to foods caused by Leaky Gut Syndrome. The problems you are most likely dealing with are:

1) Chronic bracing (lack of blood flow to GI tract)
2) Dysbiosis (bad bacterial overgrowth)
3) Malabsorption
4) Inflammation
5) Food sensitivities caused by LGS

IBS is ONE end result of having LGS. LGS can be diagnosed as crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis and many other digestive complaints. It all depends on how you got the way you did and your genetic tendencies. So, you are dealing with LGS/Chronic bracing and bacterial dysbiosis first, food allergies, inflammation, malabsorption 2nd (being a consequence of LGS/bracing).

So, go to the archives, look up unfamiliar terms. You will learn a lot. Then, if you still have questions, come back. Take care

Rich

Is this serious?? Am I going to die? I was bulemic for about 10 years--could this be a result of that?

It could be from the belimia. Are you going to die? I doubt it. LGS has varying degrees of severity. If you were THAT bad, you would know because you would be reacting to EVERYTHING including water and you would probably not have the energy to get out of bed. You would be on your last leg. You are not there so don't worry. LGS is one of those things like heart disease and cancer. They kill you slowly over many many years. You should know that EVENTUALLY, LGS causes death but so can candida if left untreated. Don't worry. People have been suffering with these problems sometimes 30 or 40 years before they got help but they were no where NEAR dying. Just get started on your learning and let us know what you learn. Be calm. You will get well once you understand what is holding you back.

Thank you for your information. Cancer? That scares me to death! I have a new baby to take care of! I am making a doctor appointment today to get everything checked out and I will continue to research about my problem. Thanks again.

no no no. I am not saying you have cancer. wait! relax just a bit, ok? You asked me if you could die from LGS. I said that it would take many many years for you to finally secome to this. I compared it to the slow processes of heart diesase and cancer. You don't know you have it until you aRe diagnosed with it. Don't worry. I had LGS for over 6 years that I am aware of. I remedied the problem and so can you. Do some work and get back to me when you learn more.

I'm sorry. I have a high level of anxiety as it is, and when I have an illness or possible disease, I get panicky about it - (which upsets my stomach!!). I will get back to you after I learn more and hopefully get better!

Jill

Jill
When you read the archives, in addition to Rich's comments, you will see that a whole food diet and exercise will also help. The SR will help a great deal, especially if you have a lot of stress or anxiety. It all works together. There is a lot of good information at this site. Spend the time to read and learn. It works. Good luck

Hi, Jill.

Lots of the BB participants know how these are linked.

They are both directly related to LGS.

Walt
