GERD, Candida, Crohn's & Body odour that smells like ammonia

Well...I am soooo glad I found this site, and have had the benefit of reading many of the postings.

I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease four years ago...and was just entering remission when I got Systemic Candida, GERD, very bad breath, and this peculiar body odour (that smells like ammonia).

I have been fighting to eliminate the candida for 9 months, and am gaining ground.

Recently I started having the symptoms associated with GERD, as well as that horrible body odour. No deodorant can mask it. Is the odour a side-effect of GERD? Does anyone else have this?

At first my doctor thought it was a Crohn's flare. I had a colonoscopy which proved that I was in fact in remission for Crohn's disease. He intimated that it was GERD. Anyone out there with both Crohn's and GERD?

Well, it's GERD. I was surfing the net to find some alternative to a life time of expensive drugs to manage GERD...when I found this site.

I have ordered the book and will start the GRJ regimin in as soon as I buy the ginger. I will make sure to post messages with an update to my condition.

Thank you Walt, for having the courage and conviction to come forth with this alternative to allopathic/traditional western medicine, and to weather the storms that you were faced with in doing so.

Betty

I don't have all that you are looking for but I can probably help you in a few areas. I was just starting to suffer GERD and some early symptoms of crohn's when I decided to get tested for food allergies. When I did, and eliminated those foods, both symptoms went away. You may want to check the food sensitivity angle. IMMUNO LABS is the best!!

Taking plant enzymes before meals and taking pancreatin (10x) during or after meals can help break down food better for you. Still, they say food sensitivities are the more important issue in crohns.

Here is a great website for people with crohns and they have some great advice/products if you need them. www.crohns.net. Pamela is nutritionist there and is very helpful.

You are taking antifungals for the candida right (herbal or perscription)?

what is your diet like?

Can you tell me what brand/name of plant enzymes and pancreatin enzymes are best and where the best place to buy them?

Thanks

This may be tough to answer. It all depends on what type of foods you have trouble with. In general, Angeo Pangeon Extra Strength from Metagenics is an excellent, high potency pancreatin.

As far as plant enzymes go, I like the Therazyme formulas (need to be ordered through a doctor or nutritionist) and Similase which you can get online at www.tyler-inc. com.

HCL may be needed if you have feelings of fullness after meals or excessive belching. If your bowels are sluggish and you always feel bloated. Try 1 630mg capsule of HCL with your next meal (that contains protein). If that doesnt cause burning, keep raising by one until you get that burning, Then, back off 1 tab and maintain that dose. YOu should feel better if you have an HCL deficiency. I actually got up to taking 6 caps with each protein meal with no symptoms. After that, my belching and bloating, and sense of fullness went away. Try it (unless you have gastrisis, peptic or duodenal ulcer)

-Good luck :)

Hi, Betty.

Congratulations on your gaining ascendency over your condition.

Both GERD and Crohn's are based on LGS as is C-RS. Your ammonia smell is beginning liver decompensation because of its being no longer able to keep up with the massive detoxification burden placed upon it by your long term LGS.

What are you doing about SR? Have you had real liver function tests and not just the liver death tests available in local labs? See the liver archives.

The liver boosters for the enzymatic function of the liver would help you at least for awhile until you had your LGS under control.

Let us know what you learn and how you do.

Walt

Hello Dr. Stoll,

Thank you for replying to my posting. I am a Canadian and am unsure if I can request the Real Liver Function and Liver Death tests from my allopathic doctor. Is this a test that I can have my Naturopath complete?

I will look through the archives, and through your book when I receive it about combatting LGS.

What do I do for SR? Well, probably not enough. I moved to a beautiful neighborhood close to the water (a lake) and a beautiful park. I take daily walks there to cleanse my soul. I listen to classical music and try deep breathing. I use visualization to ease pain, and I play sports. It's still not enough however. Pehaps your book will illuminate me to other methods?

I forgot to add this in the last posting...but I also suffer from hearing loss in my left ear. I just went for an MRI on Friday, so they be able to tell me the cause of the hearing loss and ear/head pains. Would this be associated with LGS somehow?

Looking forward to your reply. Thanks again.

Betty

hi There,

Thanks for your message. I don't know if we have IMMUNO Labs here in Canada, but I will check. Regarding food allergies - I hope I don't have any more than the ones I aleady knew about. Due to Crohn's, I don't eat wheat, dairy, red meat, refined sugar's, and I stay away from preservatives.

I do think that perhaps night shade's might be an issue. I will make sure to check that out.

Re: Plant Enzymes. Thank you for the lead. I will check my health food store out today.

guess this doent really matter, as it is just one small aspect of the larger issues you have identified, but parasites also make ammonia.

Hi, Betty.

The hearing is not (so far as we know so far) related to LGS. If it was pretty sudden it is very likely due to plagiocephaly and would respond to Cranial Osteopathy so long as it has not already been present for many years. See the archives.

Call the Great Smokies Labs and get a list of physicians in your area who would know enough to order the liver function tests and how to interpret them. So far as I know, since the blood has to be drawn (another monopoly the MDs have been able to keep for themselves) you would need an MD or DO to order the tests OR draw the specinens themselves.

Hope this helps.

Walt
