Dr. Stoll,
I messed up. While taking my son to visit prospective colleges, I made the mistake of eating some bad meatballs. I have sufferred with diarrhea for over a week. I tried fasting for 24 hours (while drinking plenty of water) but the symptoms did not clear up. Please advise.

You may need to get a stool culture and take some specific antibiotics---after this length of time. There IS a place for quality allopathic medicine.
In the meantime, you might try flooding your system with about 12 billion live acidophilus organisms 4 times a day.
