18 month old with Celiac Disease

Walt

The granddaughter of some people in our church has celiac disease and her life is now in danger. The docs at Tulane, N.O., have told the parents that both of them carry the gene for CD, and that is why the child has it. I'm sure there must be an answer in diet, but until they get her to eating again, this is not feasible. I told the grandmother about how much slippery elm bark tincture helped me with ulcerative colitis and she was very interested. The parents have not reached the point yet to look at alternative therapies, but in case they do soon, I'd appreciate hearing your views. God may well be leading them in that direction. Thanks!!

Nancy

Dear Nancy,

For an 18 month old child to have this diagnosis (not hard to make) at this age, there HAS to be a genetic susceptibility. HOWEVER, that does not mean, by any means, that the contributing lifestyle factors that CAN be changed would not resolve the condition rapidly.

The child needs to be seen by someone knowledgable about LGS and C-RS.

Go to the library & read anything by Doris Rapp, MD, Sherry Rogers, MD or William Crook, MD. Look especially at their books about children and these conditions. Every bookstore would also have copies or at least be able to get them for you.

THEN, when you have that information under your belt, if there is any trouble finding someone in that part of the country, let me know & perhaps I can help.

Walt

Thanks, Walt! I'll get back to you later if I need to find a knowledgable doc in our area. In the meantime, I'm going to review these books, in case I'm asked for further direction by the parents of the baby.

Dear Nancy,

Don't wait for the parents to contact YOU. This child's life is on the line & the conventional inforamtion they are getting is NOT going to save it.

Walt

I mailed the grandmother some information on gluten-free diet, websites, etc. There are alot of good support groups on the internet. I also sent the last message you sent me about it, with the books llisted. The mail didn't go out Mon because of Pres. Day or Tues because of MardiGras, so I hope she got it today. I'll call her tonight. Hopefully she will have read the info so she'll see it in black & white, and know that I'm not just some nut. I've never met these people, so it's not real easy for me to contact them, but you're absolutely right. The baby's life IS in danger. Please pray that the Lord will work through me!

Thanks.

Nancy
