what's next?!

Hi again. I'm at a loss here I originally wrote because of severe rectal bleeding. at that time they gave 5 units of blood and had had a hemroidectomy a week later. about a month after the surgury I started bleeding again. I mentioned it to the doctors and at first nothing was done about it. Last week I had blood tests done again that put the iron level at 7.6 today I had a test very uncomfortable. But they now feel it might be an artery that is ruturing I've never heard of this. I'm at my wits end I thought the problems where fixed 3 months ago. what can you tell me about this or do you think it could have another cause?!?

A second opinion.

When doctors start to sound like they don't know what they're doing, that's when I start looking for someone else. If you have friends or a doctor who can make recommendations for a doctor who specializes in your problem, that would be the place to start. If you live in So. Cal. I know a great guy who did my friend's hemmoroid surgery. Very thorough.

It's would be wise to have someone else examine you at this point. I've been in a similar situation with uterine bleeding, and I had to find someone besides my original doctor to help me because it was beyond the spectrum of his knowlege.

Hope you are feeling better soon.

Hi, Tammy.

I recall your last posts. If YOU recall I made no bones about the nemorrhoids not likely being the cause of your blood loss at the time!

You definitely need to listen to beth! You need a colonoscopy and a better doc.

Let us know what you find out.

Walt

hi Dr. Stoll
ok I saw the surgeon again today. all he said was that my bowels were thin and he prescribed Cortifoam to be used 1 time qh for 3 weeks and I follow up with him again. The bleeding has stopped but this is normal it will stop for about a month then come back full force I don't want to go through another bout of it and end up with more transfusions. Also quick quick question any idea why I would be taken off the blood donars list and the unrelated bone marrow donars list?! for the next 12 months?! please let me know your views

Hi, Tammy.

It ia amazing to me that your surgeon can tell you this and still deny that LGS is a valid clinical entity.

Your only option is to deal with your LGS.

I hope your surgeon is correct about this and wonder why he did not tell you right after your colonoscopic exam? Surely it would have been as obvious then as in retrospect. Watch his eyes get shifty when you ask him WHY your lining might be so thin. Watch his eyes again when he tries to explain why this did not happen earlier in life--without his admitting the validity of LGS. Obviously this is an acquired condition. He cannot posibly explain how this happened without the LGS concept.

Walt
