Another Candida story, and to Helping You

Hi folks, I recently diagnosed myself with candida albicans overgrowth and I'm having success with the protocol I created for myself based on the many posts and Dr. Stoll's articles on Candida and LSG. I wanted to specifically thank Helping You, as I basically following her/his advice for my approach. Helping you - I just want to say how much I appreciate the time and energy you put into posting on this board. Not to leave out Dr. Stoll! Many thanks all and if you'd like to read about my experience just click the link below.

I'm keeping a private log very similar to yours. This is very extensive, good to keep track of everything.

Just a suggestion. It looks as though your IC is doing better, so I'm not sure this applies. I can't take ascorbic acid at all, let alone the levels you are taking. Any citrus fruits, citric acid and ascorbic acid (which I think the chemical companies derive from citrus fruits) all irritate my bladder horribly. If you ever have issue, take a look at those things. My urologist finds that all his IC patients are affected by these.

But if you aren't, just disregard.

Hi, Thessa. I checked out your webpage, it's cool!

I did a search for Candi-Gone but nothing came up; where did you buy yours? Thanks, Joan in AZ

Hi Joan, thanks! Renew Life makes Candi-Gone, but I just went to their website (http://www.renewlife.com/index.html) and they don't have that product listed. I found it in a health food store in Atlanta, it is one of the best store I know, and I couldn't find it at some of the smaller ones. Paid about $30 for it. There were other products though, and I picked that one after reading the label and recognizing what the ingredients do. I just found the Candi-Gone on the website below. They list the ingredients as well. Good luck!

Hi Beth, thanks a lot for the head's up and concern. You know, I went through about 6 months thinking that I had IC (I wasn't about to get that invasive and painful test to make sure) because all of my urinary symptoms pointed directly to it and I couldn't track it to bacteria. I read the IC information, the foods to stay away from etc, and it helped the symptoms when I followed the IC maintenance advice. But after experimenting with the Candida program (and realizing that I had all these other symptoms too) I realize that I probably didn't have IC in the first place. I have often wondered though, are the 2 related? I'm interested in what you think about this. Do you have any other symptoms or have you ever looked into candida overgrowth and what have you found applies to your situation? Recently I have changed the type of vitamin C I take as well. I am using a product made from the Amla berry with spirulina. It's closer to taking vitamin C in it's natural state. Of course I have no idea how it effects bladder irritation with IC (citrus fruit gave me bladder discomfort too, but not the ascorbic acid), but I'm concerned about IC folks not getting natural vitamin C from fresh foods. Have you had any observations/thoughts regarding this?

Excellent that you are keeping a log. Mine turned out a little confusing for others to read because my situation/approach changed often.

Good luck, after researching both, I'd much rather deal with candida than IC - sending my support.
Thessa

I agree.

There are some wonderful people helping us here. I don't know what I'd do without them. You guys here that? You are great!!! I'll add my 'thank you' too!

Thessa, I clicked on your link and it wouldn't come up. Maybe it's my connection. I'll try again.

Thanks, Thessa! My health food store carries the product. . . Glad it worked so well for you; I'm going to try it (this one will be good for me because there is nothing in it that I'm allergic to [yet])!

IC and candida...

Yes, I think they could be related, in some people. I haven't really hunkered down to do a serious candida protocol, though I'm doing lots of things to heal my LGS.

I have noticed that when I take diflucan for a yeast infection, my bladder does feel better. So, I could indeed have a candida problem that's affecting the bladder. I have yet to find a doctor who will give me a prescription for nystatin powder (that just really irritates me). And I am planning on the rotation of natural anti-fungals, but as so many things bother my bladder, I have to take things very slowly.

I look at the term Interstital Cystitis as a bucket term for bladder irritation without bacteria. I think in some people, it could very well be yeast overgrowth. And in your case that could be it. I have a friend who got complete relief from her IC by drinking nystatin powder in water all day long for 6 months.

I know I have a candida problem, so when that is better under control, perhaps so will my bladder.

Thanks, beth.

They CAN be related. Since bracing is a basic component of both, though, I tend to emphasize that factor.

I would be very interested in hearing from anyone else who had resolved their IC by this simple expedient----especially without relapse in a year or so.
