I am going to do the test for intestinal impermeability that Great Smokies Labs makes, and also the stool test (without the parasite part, just the digestive function part). The kit says to go off anti-fungals, antibiotics, digestive enzymes, pretty much all supplements for three days before the (stool) test. I think that I read somewhere here that you should go off everything for a much longer period of time in order to really see how your digestion is doing on its own. I've been taking digestive enzymes and anti-microbials along with other supplements.
Won't the test results reflect that, and perhaps give a sort of "false negative" if I only stop these supplements things for three days? Just wondering...thanks for any input.

Hi,
Wouldn't this be a good opportunity to determine if your anti-fungals are working? Just a thought...

Thanks Doug. I'm doing the CDSA, the info sheet I have says it includes a yeast, fungi, bacteria, and anaerobic culture. My doctor doesn't think the parasitology (with purge...for giardia, etc.) is needed at this point.

Cool. Thought I'd poke my big nose in where it doesn't belong. For what it's worth, my doctor ordered the test, and couldn't interpret the results afterwards. Be sure to post the results. Some of the people on this board are very knowledgeble regarding it, and may point out something your doc didn't. Just a thought.

Hi, Andrea.
If the instructions say 3 days, I would have to agree. However, I would also have to say that I would like to know what the instructions will be in a few years when there is more experience with this test. If it were me, I would not only also get the purged stool for parasites (actually 4-5 purged stool tests would be a lot more accurate) but would go at least a week (instead of the recommended 3 days)--just to be sure.
Let us know what you learn.
