leaky gut syndrome and dysbiosis

Dr. Stoll- I read your info on leaky gut and did not feel to hopeful. Brief hx. I have had the diarrhea off and on now mostly on since 1981. This past summer I saw a D.O. who ordered great smokies CSA- the results came back that I was positive for Klebsiella. He also diagnosised leaky gut and dysbiosis his protocol was 2 months of Cipro to be followed by Grapefruit seed extract, garlic, Viracin, protein enzyme, niacin flush 2x/week, probiotics, vit C, magnesium, glutamine. Wow I had formed stools the first time since 1997. For 2 months things were going well. I was slowly adding foods back- I had started to take udo's oil for EFAs. In the past I have not been able to tolerate oil. Slowly I could see the slow change of the end stool getting soft- then when some extra stress in my life( my sister dying in an auto accident on 11 Sep) I am back to my liquid stools.
I had been checking my stools with ph litmus paper and usually the ph was 8 even during my 2 good months. My understanding is that you want an acidic environment for friendly bacteria to thrive. Is there anything diet wise I can do to bring the gut ph down? I presently only eat fish, chicken eggs and cooked pureed carrots and zuchinni. I had also been eating white rice and thought that might be contributing to the alkaline ph so have not had for 2 weeks. I have recently started taking HCL and I am gradually increasing and presently at 500mg per meal. I will also add SR- I don't find I get the tense shoulders. Do you have an suggestions from where to go from here?
