I've seen many sites on the Internet that talk about mucoid plaque and was wondering if people are so full of this plaque, then how can the doctor see anything during a colonoscopy? Are these web sites just trying to sell a cleansing product or are they really on too something?

Not speaking for Curious - but that IS how I've heard it (mucoid plaque) described. I think Curious asks a very interesting question and I am looking forward to the answer(s).

Hi, Curious (& Rebecca).
I have always found it hard to imagine such a thing BUT, early in my practice I had an experience that proved the retention of a plaque of barium (following a barium enema exam, 15 years before I saw her, she had had continuous pain).
The rigorous purging preparation for another BE forced her to pass an 8" spicule of rock hard barium and she had no symptoms following that.
SO, hard as it is to imagine, I know that at least something like this CAN happen.
Now, having said that. I think it must be rare and that most of the cleansing "treatments" are not necessary (In my opinion!)
Once again, only your own personal, bodymind laboratory can tell you for sure.
