I read where you said if the stones are small they may pass. Do they pass thru the urine? Can the gallstones, small ones ever go away? If there were gallstones, wouldnt they produce pain after consumption of greasy foods, eggs, etc?? Thanks

Yes, yes and most probably.

Hi, Beth Ann.
Smaller gall stones pass through the common duct and then the Sphincer of Oddi into the small intestine.
See the liver archives for your options for encouraging passing them. THEN, when they are passed, deal with your LGS so as to not form more.

Hi, BethAnn.
That is beyond the scope of this BB. Of course, I kinow the answer but you really need to go to your lending library and have the reference librarian find that informatin for you.

Beth,
The best use of Walt's time and expertise is helping people solve their real problems.
If you just need information for your own knowledge, libraries are useful, or use your search engine.

Gallstones may or may not produce symptoms, depending on their size and on the overall functioning of the liver and gallbladder. The symptoms may be physical, like pain after fat foods or psychological, like unwarranted irritability. You can have all of them or none. We're all different.
It can happen that a heavy meal flushes out a stone, in which case you would feel pain on your right side, bloatedness, irritation and indigestion - especially if the stone gets lodged in a duct on the way out.
I suppose you have been feeling something, and that is why you are asking this, not because you're just curious. Unfortunately Dr. Stoll cannot tell you via the Internett whether your symptoms are due to a passing of a gallstone. He might have assesed the possibility of it, that is if you had told him what you have experienced in the first place. In this kind of communication, it is always good to say why we ask about something, so it will be easier for people to answer.
If you are suspecting gallstones, you may wish to do an ultrasound check-up. That is quite accurate and will put your mind to rest. Otherwise I can really recommend you to try to read at least some posts from the Gallbladder and Liver Archives. Personally, I have learned a lot and found many useful links there when I was having trouble with gallbladder.
Hope this helps

Beth,
Listen to Happygal.
MY purpose here is to do what others may not be able to do.
You were supposed to learn how to do simple research in high school.
If you do not learn it now when will you?
The best this I can do for you is force you to learn to do research.

Dear Walt,
even though I wrote a spoonfeeding answer to Beth Ann, I do agree with you, and can understand why you respond the way you do. You should not waste your time dishing out the information that people can easily access themselves.
It seems to me that those who demand the most care the least. Many times people don't even bother thanking for information, as if this was something they paid you for. How many times did you answer a post, and asked for more information and they don't bother to answer...I don't envy you educating people like that. That's why I understand that you should keep your priorities clear. Also, people should be able to recognise what a good job you're doing given the demands!

Thanks, Sonja.
It is disappointing at times but bright spots of those people, like you, who actually do walk though the doors that I know how to open, keep me going.
I have come to figure that the additional years of increasing suffering, that will be the reward of those who miss the boat, is punishment enough.
Namaste`
Walt
