My husband has hep c. He was diagnosed in 1998, but he knows he contracted it in the early 70s. His first biopsy in '98 indicated his liver was inflamed, but no damage. His second biopsy this year shows things have progressed to stage 1(stage 4 is the begining of cirrhosis). His liver doctor wants him to begin the newest interferon/ribavirin treatment(pegasys) this fall. Because he has a history, since he was a child, of having a weak immune system and because his virus is genotype 1, which is least responsive, neither of us want to take this way. We are considering the treatment suggested by Dr. Qingcai Zhang, M.D. in his book, "Healing Hepatitus C with Modern Chinese Medicine." Also, a friend has sent us information on BioChoice Immune26. Do you have any information or experience with these things in regard to hep c? We are trying find out as much as possible in order to make the best choice for his future health. Thank you. Deborah

Hi, Deborah.
I certainly agree that nearly ANYTHING, except what conventional medicine would recommend (which have all been proven to be ineffective and still they are used), would be preferable.
If I had this I would start wellness and contact Dr Cathcart about IV vitamin C. See the vitamin C archives and the liver archives.
Let us know what you learn and how he does.

Have you read articles by Nicholas Regush on the topic of hepatitis C? If not, take the time to read them and others:
- Hepatitis C Reconsidered;
- or you can read his articles at ABCNEWS web site: http://www.abcnews.go.com/sections/living/SecondOpinion/secondopinion_44.html
- after you're done with Regush's articles, do read Interview with Stefan Lanka
A good site for immune system related info is Keep Hope Alive
Also, consider a stabilized rice bran based product from NutraStar as it seems to produce astounding results in various areas: diabetic neuropathy reversed, liver function restored (in people who were too bad even to have liver transplant; I hope I remember that correctly), improved insulin synthesis in people with type 1 and 2
diabetes, and others. And health improvements don't take a long time to show up. For example, I remember that diabetic neuropathy was improved/reversed in just several weeks, according to clinical studies conducted by some doctors. I think it's worth a try, especially because they offer 2 month money back guarantee. You can read about it at http://www.nutrastar.com/ I don't think information about restoring liver function is on their web site, but I got that from a radio interview with its CEO, so you might want to talk to her (the CEO) and get more info about that and ask for the best known regimen using their product.

I found old interviews with NutraStar's CEO in a search engine's archives. Here are some quotes:
"...I have developed two products that are predigested and they are very bioavailable. We're finding that they have tremendous affect with diabetics and people with diseases such as cirrhosis of the liver. We're seeing dramatic improvement in the state of the health of these individuals."
"Physician's Formula 3 is geared specifically for liver disease. And that's not using the RiceMucille, but using the RiSolubles with certain specific probiotics. This is a very exciting thing for these doctors because they are seeing benefits in their patients where they didn't think there was any possibility of benefit. In fact, one of the patients that we're dealing with was just recently turned back from a typing for his liver transplant. He no longer needs a liver transplant... He had Hepatitis C and cirrhosis of the liver. Now you know, maybe this was spontaneous. Our doctors don't seem to think so, but this is anecdotal until we can get it into a clinical trial. But right now, we're just in the process of finalizing a protocol for a cirrhosis clinical trial at UCLA. That ought to be very exciting and lots of fun, especially because of the benefits to those people who are literally without hope."
And about diabetes: "we conducted a 57-man clinical trial with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetics, and found that in eight weeks' time on the RiSolubles, Type 1 diabetics were exhibiting a normal range of fasting blood glucose levels. Their blood sugar levels were normalized during that eight-week period (their fasting blood glucose levels). That was a very exciting thing because, to our knowledge, nothing has had any affect on Type 1 diabetics other than insulin up to this point. And here, we're just dealing with a whole food."

Thanks, R, for the weblinks. I read "Hep C Reconsidered." It contained some very surprising information. I checked abcnews.com and found out Nicholas Regush is no longer with them. I hope he finds a good venue to publish his research. I noticed the same problem with the medical community which he alluded. It's hard to break through the unified "wall" of opinion to get to the facts. I will be looking into the other sites and treatments you recommended. Thanks to everyone who responded.

BioChoice immune26 and immune support could offer your husband some help. Legacy offers the products RISK FREE to try for 90 days, 100% refund, no questions asked. What do you have to lose? Biochoice does not cure anything, it just ballances and supports your immune system.
No man-made system can "CURE" disease. No person can "cure" you of your ailments, aches, pains and diseases. Only the internal functions of your own body destroy diseases. The human body is self-repairing and self-healing. Every human body has a built-in healing mechanism that is called your Immune System. You must have it in order to stay alive, without it there is death.
Every day of your life you meet people with a healthy balanced Immune System. Also, every day you see tired, exhausted, nervous, frustrated people with aches, pains, disease, stresses, strains and tensions. Most of these people are prematurely aged. Looking and feeling
older are quite literally the results of a weak and
unbalanced Immune System.
