Ultrasound for Ovarian Cyst is goofed up!!

Ok, now this is making me angry: I just got a letter from my second GYN doctor about my second ultrasound. He states: "it has been interpreted by the radiologist" and "there is some confusion between the two most recent ultrasounds, because they see the cyst that appears like it did in the 1st ultrasound, but it appears on the opposite ovary. This means one of two things: it was misinterpreted the 1st time as far as what side it was on or the left side has resolved and now you have formed another cyst on the right side." "There are medications that we may attempt to see if we can supress these cysts. If this does not help, then again I would encourage you to consider a surgical removal of the cyst."
I am upset about this. Everytime I seek medical care it seems like something gets goofed up. Thank god I did not consent to surgery with the first GYN based on the results of the first ultrasound!!! How can a hospital screw up an ultrasound?? Why can't they tell the left ovary from the right?? How hard is that?? I have a retroflexed uterus, could that be a factor Dr. Stoll? I am loosing my faith in the medical profession. This is not the first time!!
Another thing, I had two other ultrasounds in the first GYN's office between the two ultrasounds in question. Wouldn't the GYN have been able to tell left from right?? I am hoping you can shed some light on this Dr. Stoll. I posted below after talking to the office nurse, before getting the letter. I will see my GYN on Friday.

Try castor oil packs on you abdomen. 3 layer thickness of cotton cloth, pour castor oil on cloth so cloth is saturated but not dripping wet. Lay a piece of plastic over this. Do this 3 or 4 nights a week for several months. Your cyst will go away.

Ok, so how long do I leave the packs on? So, since noone seems to really know which side the cyst is on, I assume would put it on both sides?

Hi, Donna.

Welcome to the world of the allopathic monopoly. This is one of the reasons why conventional medicine is already the 3rd most common cause of death in the country.

The best chance is that the first cyst disappeared and another one happened on the other ovary. In my opinion, of course, if this is the case the surgeon has to recommend surgry quick before that one disappears too.

Unless I had lots of symptoms, I would try to ignore it.

Walt

I would put the castor oil packs on your abdomen. Leave the packs on for several hours preferably all night. I have slept with packs on. Tuck the pack inside your clothes against the skin, place a piece of plastic over that to protect your clothes. Sleep on a towel if you're worried about your bed linen. If you can only do it for a hour or two place a heating pad on the packs. This seems to help the oil penetrate the skin. Think well thoughts!!! As far as the amount of time it takes to heal, well it's going to take several months depending how severe you conditions are. I would prefer castor oil packs over surgery anyday. I used to have a bad back, carpal tunnel syndrome. I have fixed both with castor oil packs. The stuff is truly amazing.

Thanks Dr. Stoll! I think you are right about this one. This is not the first time a medical practioner goofed things for me. I have come to the conclusion that if I want to be healthy I need to stay far away from them!! The cyst does not bother me. I had some abnormal bleeding-but that went away in April. I have some very small non-cancerous polys/fibriods that are not increasing in size I have no pains, bloating , or other symptons. I am afraid that if I let allow surgery they will take out the ovary, and more because of my age (47). Then I may need hormone replacement- which will increase my chances of breast cancer, or increase the size of my fibriods. I would also be at a increased chance for heart disease, etc. I could also develop adhesions. I have done extensive reading and most cysts are benign. There is no ovarian cancer in my family.
Just wondering since I am between jobs and unemployed how this would effect health insurance if I were to try to obtain it.
Thanks again for all your suppport!! We need more like you!

You have me convinced. I am going to try it. I figure it can't hurt, although it sounds a bit messy/ I suppose I can just by it at Walmart? Are all castor oils effective?
Thanks.

Hi Donna,

Consider using natural progesterone cream from the health food store. Kind of expensive, but it's supposed to work. The book "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Menopause" by John R. Lee, MD tells how & why re: ovarian cysts. See if you can find a copy at your library or browse at the bookstore (pp. 239-240). He says that ovarian cysts develop because of failed or disordered ovulation, which is common at 'our' age--I'm 48. I had very bad cramps for several days before my last period, and lots of PMS symptoms, neither of which I normally have. I thought maybe I was developing a cyst, so I got my book out to see what to do about it. We'll see next month if the Pro-Gest (Emerita) cream has worked to help the possible cyst disappear, but I'm using it every day now (according to directions). I should be using it at my age anyway. Dr. Lee also says that surgery to remove cysts used to always include removal of the ovary, but it's not always done now. If I ever had to have surgery (which would be very remote), I would talk to the surgeon and my husband ahead of time and write directly on the consent form the only conditions under which I would authorize removal of my ovary (or anything else in the area).

Hope this helps,
Nutmeg

I got my castor oil from health food store. The drug store sells a small 2 oz bottle for $4. Put plastic on top of cloth with castor oil to protect clothes. I wear alot of black so it doesn't show up. Besides I feel so much better. And didn't like the word surgery. All castor oil is the same. Just find the cheapest you can find. I paid $5 for 8 oz bottle. Let me know how it goes.

I have been using the progestersone cream for the past 2 months (1/4 tsp twice a day). You are right about the consent form. It is important to get it in writing. Its scary how doctors like to remove the ovary, etc., the older the woman is. Then they think they can replace our hormones with a pill. Not for me!!

All castor oil is the same.

According to Mark Konlee at Keep Hope Alive, only cold pressed castor oil has produced health benefits. Below is one of places where he talks about it.

And you haven't mentioned the use of a heating pad with castor oil pack compresses. Maybe that's why it takes you months to see results.

As any human, medical workers can and do make mistakes. It's natural and shouldn't surprise anybody.

Edgar Cayce suggested heating the castor oil before applying to body. I do not do this and have had great results. Alot of healing is in the intention. That's why placebos work.

I don't dispute that, but there's a lot healing regardless intention. That's why some methods work better than placebos.

Thanks, Gen.

ALL suggested treatments (including all allopathic medications) have about a 70% positive placebo effect. Only if the substance (or procedure) is double-blinded does that positive % drop to about 33.

The Harvard study seems to have ruled out the placebo effect being the reason caster oil packs to the liver work.
