Parenchymal Liver Disease

Hello. My husband was just diagnosed as possibly having this disease. The doctor didn't even tell us until we requested our records (didn't like this doctor so requested our records to take to another doctor - that's when we read this ourselves!) I have looked on the internet, but I can't find much about this disease at all. Can you help?

Sorry. I should mention his ALT levels now are at 115! A few months ago they were 96 (why they did the test).

Hi, Brooke.

In my opinion, he needs a much more knowledgable set of docs! ALT liver tests are at least 20 years out of date and are the liver death tests described in the liver archives. He at least needs some true liver "function" tests that test the cells that are still living.

Also, in the liver archives you will find several things he could do right now that would help him a lot with no risk of harm.

Let us know what you learn. "Parenchymal" liver disease just says that they do not have a clue what is causing the problem and what ever it is is damaging the functional cells of the liver. This is NOT a disease--which is why you are having such a hard time finding anything about it.

His docs do not want to admit the above which is why they try to snow you with the big word "parenchymal".

Walt
