liver damage

Posted by Lisa on September 28, 2000 at 15:28:27:

Blood tests recently showed that i have acute liver damage. Levels were total blilrubin 9.8 (normal range 0.2 - 1.3); Alk Phos 455 (normal 38 - 126); AST 173 (normal 15 - 46); PO4 4.8 (normal 2.5 - 4.5). I have been abusing OTC sleep aids for years, as many as 34 pills per night, whole bottles of nyquil, sometimes with alcohol, as well as regular use of excedrin (amphetamine/aspirin). Exactly how serious is this damage, and what can i expect to happen with my liver?

taking some milk thistle and dandelion to help repair the liver while you are making the necessary lifestyle changes. Milk thistle, if you do a search on it, has some extremely impressive research behind it. I don't know if dandelion has as much research, but it is also amazing stuff. Detoxing the liver in this way should help bring at least the ALK down, although there's no telling how far down it will come.

regular doctors will not offer much help with this...they lead my aunt to an unnecessary liver transplant.

find a GOOD-- very GOOD-- doctor of traditional chinese medicine. she or he can use tunia, acupuncture, and herbs like milk thistle and dandelion to regain much of your liver's health.

also you might want to call around and talk to a few naturopathic doctors (ND's)to see if they think they can do much for you.

anothre angle to work to your advantage is to eliminate as much work for your liver as possible-- embrace the complete wellness program and avoid ALL toxins-- eaten, breathed in, and touched-- which must be detoxified through your liver. just dropping food additives will provide massive releif.

just wondering, on your face, at the top of your nose at the inner edge of your eyebrows, do you have the small vertical/slightly diagonal lines ?

good luck with the underlying problems...i hope u do well and can sleep. i know how it is not to be able to fall asleep despite being exhausted.

Hi, Lisa.

Since everything you listed here has to be detoxified by the liver they are likely the cause. Fortunately for you , the liver is VERY forgiving when it comes to regeneration. Unfortunately for you that forgiveness is probably at an end if you continue to poison your liver.

You can put off the end for a while by going to the archives about liver and doing the detox stuff and castor oil packs mentioned there.

IF you stop everything IMMEDIATELY the most likely thing is that your liver will recover and take care of you for the rest of your life. If you do not, you will soon need a liver transplant. When they find out that you have been abusing this stuff, you will no longer BE a candidate for transplant since you would damage your new liver the same way.

Let us know how you do.

Walt

you are like a person holding a smoking gun up to your temple then asking why there is a bullet in your head? what do think is causing your liver trouble? stop this nonsense and godwilling your liver may come back.

Thanks again, LT.

The most sophisticated research (just this year) showed that what you mentionied, plus alpha lipoic acid, was BY FAR the most effective approach to reversing terminal liver failure. Just think what it could do earlier in the course of liver disease. See reference under liver or by the search engine.
